INQUIRING MINDS

Inquiring minds want to know.... and I want to know something. I know that you clever bloggers that read my blog know how to do this and I'm hoping that you can tell me.

When you post pictures and you say to click on it to enlarge... how do you do that? I resize my pictures and if you click on them they might be a little bigger but not full page.

Oh, never mind. I figured it out on my own. If you click on this old boat it'll go full size!
Oh, I'm so proud of me!! Some pictures are so much prettier when they are enlarged. This one below is the lake bottom that is so full of weeds. Look how green they are!!! If you click you can make it larger.
Right now we are finally getting some rain. It is only sprinkling but that's better than nothing and it's been sprinkling for an hour or so. We have a better chance tonight and tomorrow. I need everyone reading this to please cross everything you have two of, in the hopes that it will rain! Only cross things if you can do so without too much pain!!! Don't want to make it hitonious for you!!

DRY! HOT! COOL LEGGED COWS! FULL CATS! SUNDAY SIGN!

We are still dry here. Last night I heard thunder and sprung out of bed! There was lots of lightening and thunder and I thought surely the clouds would open and pour down the rain. It rained a few drops and that was it. Today we had the same thing only we got about 10 drops instead of the 20 we got last night.

These next pictures are from the farm where I go to feed the stray cats and kittens each day.

When you are cows and you don't have a pond you do the next best thing and get your front legs into the watering trough. This cow is saying, "There's only room for two so don't even think about it!"

These are some of the stray/dropped off cats. This day there was a couple not in the picture. Since then there are 4 new additions. Two black and whites that are from the same litter; one large orange/black/yellow cat; and one small kitten that is yellow. It's so little and cute. It eats and its little belly sticks out and it has skinny legs!! It's very friendly. I named it "Gooseberry." I'll have to get a picture of little Gooseberry sometime.

IS IT HOT ENOUGH TO FRY AN EGG ON THE SIDEWALK???

It is hot. Today when I called the time and temp # they said it was 104 degrees. I don't doubt them at all. I decided to see if I could fry an egg outside. I had a pie pan outside on the driveway in the sun. I feed critters in it sometimes. Anyhoo, in this first picture you can see the egg really didn't do anything. There was no sizzling going on at all. The egg just lay there.

After a couple of hours this is what it looked like. It didn't cook but it sure about dried up!

Yesterday I went to see Jimmy and Sandy. We went out to eat and we all had the same dish; the baked spaghetti, except I got mine with the meatballs. It was great and the bread that went along with it was deelicious indeed!!

Here is Sandy getting ready to take a tiny bite!! LOL Well, actually she was only pretending to take that big bite for me and the camera!!

It's always nice to visit those two and I'm so glad I met them, and it all happened by blogging.

If you look behind her you can see rain on the window and outside. It rained on me about all the way there and back, but we didn't get anything but sprinkles here. It's still dry as dust. She said I brought the rain to them, since they needed it badly too. I wish I could have brought some for us. The lawn is crunchy and brown now. I know some places are getting swamped with rain and here we are so dry. That's the way it goes. We get what we get and we might as well be thankful for it.

Sunday Two-Fer!

This shows both sides of the sign. This one was way high up and the focus isn't that great, but I had to zoom in as much as I could. I saw this one that day I went to Albany to meet Jamie Dawn. It has one of those big signs really high like motels have. I don't know how they change it or how often.

JOKE FOR TODAY

There was a little old lady, who every morning. stepped onto her
front porch, raised her arms to the sky, and shouted: 'PRAISE THE LORD!'
One day an atheist moved into the house next door. He became
irritated at the little old lady.
Every morning he'd step onto his front porch after her and yell:
'THERE IS NO LORD!'
Time passed with the two of them carrying on this way every day.
One morning, in the middle of winter, the little old lady stepped
onto her front porch and shouted: 'PRAISE THE LORD! Please Lord, I have no
food and I am starving, provide for me, oh Lord!
The next morning she stepped out onto her porch and there were two
huge bags of groceries sitting there.
'PRAISE THE LORD!' she cried out. 'HE HAS PROVIDED GROCERIES FOR ME!'
The atheist neighbor jumped out of the hedges and shouted:
'THERE IS NO LORD. I BOUGHT THOSE GROCERIES!!'
The little old lady threw her arms into the air and shouted: 'PRAISE
THE LORD! HE HAS PROVIDED ME WITH GROCERIES AND MADE THE DEVIL PAY FOR THEM!

(Thanks for the joke Sandy!)

COOL CATS

Today's temp. got up to 107 according to the folks when you call the time and temp. number. I don't know if the National Weather Service would agree with that. I did see on TV that there was a new record set at London (KY, not England) today and it was 101. (London is about 30 miles from here). I do know it's been HOT! This is where Munchie spends some of the hot weather, laying beside our outbuilding in the cool dirt where it's shady.

Miss White Lilly likes to lay on top of our old grill. I guess the metal is cool and since it's on our porch she catches any breeze that might pass through.

I had heard this before but Sandy atAbandoned in Pasadena sent it to me again, so I thought I'd pass it along!
***********************
A man was riding his Harley along a California beach when suddenly the sky clouded above his head and, in a booming voice, the Lord said, "Because you have tried to be faithful to me in all ways, I will grant you one wish."

The biker pulled over and said, "Build a bridge to Hawaii so I can ride over anytime I want."
The Lord said, "Your request is materialistic, think of the enormous challenges for that kind of undertaking; the supports required reaching the bottom of the Pacific and the concrete and steel it would take! It will nearly exhaust several natural resources. I can do it, but it is hard for me to justify your desire for worldly things. Take a little more time and think of something that could possibly help mankind."

The biker thought about it for a long time. Finally, he said, "Lord, I wish that I and all men could understand women; I want to know how she feels inside, what she's thinking when she gives me the silent treatment, why she cries, what she means when she says nothing's wrong, and how I can make a Woman truly happy."

The Lord replied, "You want that Bridge two lanes or four?"

HOT DIGGITY!!

Looky!! Looky!! I won this nice award from Donna at "zztop's little piece of heaven."

This is my first award! Heck, I don't post that often, but I can't think of a nicer one than a Nice Matters Award!!

Bless your little pea picking heart Donna, I sure do appreciate it and I'm as pleased as punch!!

I know I'm supposed to put it on my sidebar, but I don't have a clue as to how to do that. Well....I have a clue but I'm scared I'll mess things up so that I can't unmess them. It's happened before. I'm good at messing things up and then not being able to fix them. Kind of like poor Humpty Dumpty. All the King's horses and all the King's men........and all that good stuff.

I finally got in my nephew's swimming pool today. He called me from VA, where he's working, and asked me if I could do him a favor. He wanted me to go over and let the kids inside, since both kids had forgotten their keys (imagine that!) (one left her's at home and the other left her's at school), so I told him I would go on over. I decided that since I was going I'd just swim some while I was there. I had just gotten half my bathing suit on when he called back and said I didn't have to go over since both kids went home with friends. Since I was halfway ready I went ahead and drove on over there. (I got totally dressed first!) I had a wonderful time in the pool all by myself for a whole hour! It was so warm and very relaxing. Then when his wife came home, after picking up both kids, I was ready to get out. I think I'll be going back again soon. I'll see how sore I am tomorrow first!

Got Fiber??

If you need to get your fiber in, then these bars I highly recommend. They are very good. It's hard to eat just one. They are both good and I'm not a big fan of peanut butter but I tried those first and they were really great. I ate one and really enjoyed it, so I had another. The next day I had enough gas to have filled a semi. So beware on that note. I think I better stick to just one a day and get the rest of my fiber in veggies!

HOT HOT HOT

It's been so hot here and we are under a heat advisory. The temperature is right at 100 for highs with the heat index around 110. That with the high humidity makes for some real serious sweating going on.
I thought maybe this picture of the snow might help to cool me down and remind me that before we know it it'll turn cooler and the sweaters and jackets will have to come out. Therefore, I'm trying not to complain too much about it. I know others are getting the same thing.
We are moving up in the world in our neck of the woods. They put the yellow dividing stripes down the middle of our road today. One of my neighbors had called our magistate and complained a few times and told him we needed them. Lo and behold, she got it done! They only did it part of the way, because the end of our road is not wide enough. But it goes well past her house, so she is happy! She doesn't drive at night but she felt like if there was a yellow line in the middle that she could. I guess we'll see how that goes! Maybe the center lines will help some people to stay on their side of the road better. So many of them want to take their half right down the middle.
I have been staying in where the A/C is. It's just been too hot to get out and do much of anything except what has to be done. I have been doing some sewing and some reading. I haven't been on the computer that much, but I try to get around to blog commenting when I can! I will catch up sooner or later!

MEETING A BLOGGER: JAMIE DAWN!!!

Today was such a fun day. I talked with Jamie Dawn on the phone last night and we made our plans for today. She, her Dad, her brother, and her son have been taking in the "World's Longest Yard Sale, the Hwy. 127 Corridor Sale." I'm not sure where they started at but this sale starts in Gadsden, AL and goes to Covington, KY; so 450 miles of yard sales. The traffic is bad and motels are full. There are so many people set up beside the roads and if you happen to glance off the road and then look back the traffic in front of you may have stopped still, so you really have to be careful when driving on this route.

We planned to meet at Jones' Restaurant in Albany, KY, which is on Hwy. 127 and about an hour from me. I saw this lovely lush huge field of soybeans on the way. Isn't it pretty?

Then I saw this.....was it Jamie Dawn???? Oh, no it wasn't! Just an ape on a bicycle!!

I must tell you that they are wonderful folks and Jamie Dawn is such a delightful person!! I could go on and on about Jamie Dawn and her wonderful family, but you know....she'll probably read this and I sure don't want her getting the big head and all, so I'll try and not brag on her too much. I'm sure you all understand!! Her father, her brother, and her son were all so nice too. Just fine, fine folks!!

Last week Jamie Dawn was out in CA where she visited another blogger Naomi. Naomi sent a gift to me by way of Jamie Dawn. Below you see me holding the two photos that Naomi sent me. Aren't they lovely?? I love them Naomi and I will frame them and put them up so I can see them daily!! Naomi takes wonderful photographs and is such a sweet person!! I would love to meet her too!! Thank you Naomi!!!

Jamie and her family were having such a fun trip. They had bought hats to protect their heads from the heat! Certainly a good idea considering that it has been very hot and humid. Here is Jamie Dawn, her Dad, and her brother Jason showing off their head apparel. Looking great, aren't they?

I had gotten Jamie Dawn a little package of goodies that came from our neck of the woods, so to speak. One of the things I got her was this nice sized wooden mallet. Here she is demonstrating how to use it if need be!!

Now you can see it better! It is a "Hillbilly Man Tamer." Well, if those guys get out of hand on the way home I know that JD can give them an attitude adjustment real quick!! heehee!

Her husband may not appreciate it though when she gets home with it! That was just an item I saw when I stopped at this one store on my way over there and decided to buy it and add it to her goodie bag!

I did tell a little fib to Jamie Dawn though. I told her that
Cliff had instructed me to buy her a jar of mayonnaise and give to her but that I had forgotten it!! Jamie Dawn thinks mayonnaise is very hitonious! So Cliff, sorry about that (not really) but I was trying to get you in trouble and I may have!! He didn't really tell me to do that JD, all he said was to slather your sandwich with mayo since you liked it so much!!
So it was a super day and I'm so very glad I got to meet Jamie Dawn. She is funny and delightful and I thoroughly enjoyed my visit with her, her son, Dad, and her brother. Fine, delightful, great folks!! Thanks Jamie Dawn for getting in touch with me so that we could get to meet!!
