Slip Sliding Away

On Sunday after I went to church I wanted to go on the Christmas home tours they were having. Every year around Christmas time one of the women's clubs have the home tour and the amount charged goes to a good cause. I love looking at houses and seeing how others decorate, etc. There is an elderly man that writes for the paper here and he calls the upper class, the "upper crust." Naturally, all the homes on the tour are nice homes. Actually one is for sale and it is listed for over $600,000, so that gives you an idea. I like going to homes and seeing how the "upper crust" lives! The things I love are big kitchens, walk in closets, and those big bathrooms.

At any rate, I had changed from my skirt I had on after church and put on a pair of pants over my pantyhose, and then wore the same top I had worn to church. I went to the bathroom before I left here. The first home they had punch and lots of cookies, candy, etc., so I sat and partook.

Later I headed down the road to see some other homes and I guess the punch had taken its toll, so I had to stop at a gas station and use the bathroom (thankfully, it was surprisingly clean!).

After I finished going thru the homes I went over to my nephew's for a visit. (I had someone staying with my husband while I was out). When I got there my nephew's wife and her neighbor were making candies and cookies of all sorts. I sat down and sampled some of the things they were making and drank lots of water. Then I went to the bathroom there. It was during that time that I made a discovery. All evening I had had my half slip still on. I guess it was up around my waist, but I had never noticed it until that moment! I took it off and went in there and told them what I had done!! They thought it was hysterically funny!!

I guess I should stay home since I can't even seem to dress myself properly anymore!

Dumpy Drugs

I have been down in the dumps somewhat this week. A friend of mine who has pancreatic cancer is being made comfortable now by Hospice, and her time will probably be very short. She is such a dear lady and I really hate that this happened to her.

Also there was a doctor that was shot and killed in Eastern KY this week and he is distant kin to me. He was 57. He was working in a rural clinic and he wouldn't give this man any pain pills unless the man took a drug test, the man refused, got angry, went to his car, got a gun, came back in and shot him. This was so sad. He was a good doctor and well liked. Drugs are such an awful problem these days. I guess it's everywhere. I know they are terrible around here. The pain pill seeking man that shot him had a long history of run ins with the law, and he had been to other clinics that day trying to get pain pills.

The other thing that happened this week on that very windy day, a 17 year old was killed in town by a falling tree. She was pregnant and the baby also died. The tree was huge and she and her cousin were walking under it when it fell. Her cousin escaped with some minor injuries. I didn't know her but I've heard that her mother was really taking it hard, as of course she would. Just another sad thing.

Anyway, I've been feeling better today. I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! Christmas is right around the corner! Can you believe it? It's hard for me to believe it!

Windy!

If it's not nailed down today then chances are it's flying through the air with the greatest of ease......like that daring young man on the flying trapeze.....

It's one of those days when the wind is howling and everything is blowing off my front porch..that isn't weighted down good I mean. All the leaves from the neighbor's yards are rushing over into our yard to join the other leaves. It's like they are all having a party and flying in fast! Today it's 51 and tomorrow is going to be 33. I know some parts of the US have gotten big snow storms, so we are fortunate not to get all that snow. We got it in the liquid form of rain yesterday and overnight.

Does anyone watch Jerry Springer? Yesterday I was surfing through the channels and his show was on. I have never watched that show all the way through, but I have found it a few times while looking for something to watch. It amazes me that after all these years it's still on. The people on there are always fighting and every other word has to be bleeped out. The audience just yells "Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!" and drives me nuts. The crowd seems to enjoy the fighting, but I don't like seeing people fighting and arguing. I guess it's just the difference in what some people think is entertaining. To me it's not entertaining and between the yelling, the bleeping out, the commercials, and the Jerry! Jerry! Jerry! stuff, what is there left? Certainly not enough worth watching, in my opinion.
