Sunday Sign and Snow Photos

We got snow! We got about 6 inches or so and it is so pretty, but melting fast today and it won't last long, as tomorrow is going to be warmer. In this first picture you can see they have done a good job getting the road scraped.

When the snow scraper comes along it tosses all the snow across your driveway and you have that big pile of snow, so I went out with my snow shovel and got rid of ours. I also cleaned around the mailbox, which is just out of sight in this photo.

Today I ventured out and our road was still slick in places. The main roads are clear. It was quite amazing to see all this snow piled up in this parking lot. I know for you folks who are used to big snows, this snow seems very small. However, we don't usually get that much snow here in the southern part of KY and it's been several years since we've had one this deep. Northern KY and the eastern part of KY usually get more snow than we do here.

I did make a snowman today, but he was melting fast. I knocked his head off and then put another body layer on and then a new head. He was leaning forward quite a bit and I thought he looked like he was going to fall. Next thing I know he did fall; flat on his face...and that was the end of him....until he melts away anyhow! I'll see how the snow packs tomorrow. I might make another one.
I hope everyone had a wonderful week. I hope to get around and catch up with everyone ASAP! My computer was in the shop this week to be 'devirsused'. I don't think that's a word!!

Rainy Sunday

We have had a deluge of rain overnight and today. I'm not sure how much we got but it's been a lot. Here is a photo I took today. You can see the water here is level with the road almost. This was taken on a road a couple of miles from where we live.

When I was a kid I loved to go horseback riding after it rained. It was so much fun to go splashing through the fields, and even more fun to find a small creek and have the horse jump it. It seemed like the horse was always frisky and feeling good after a rain too, and enjoyed the splashing. That part might have just been my imagination though! :)

One summer evening during a violent thunderstorm a mother was tucking her small boy into bed. She was about to turn off the light when he asked with a tremor in his voice, "Mommy, will you sleep with me tonight?" The mother smiled and gave him a reassuring hug.

"I can't dear," she said. "I have to sleep in Daddy's room."

A long silence was broken at last by his shaky little voice:
"The big sissy."

Sunday Signs

I like both signs today. With the recent earthquake in Hiati it just goes to show that eternity is just one heartbeat away, and how suddenly it can all end. My heart goes out to those people.

Sunday Signs

I had to smile when I saw this sign since they just followed up after their sign last week of the "Sign Frozen.... BRRR." This church seems to always have good signs and I get most of mine from it. One of these days I want to stop in and meet the person that does their signs.
I hope everyone has had a most wonderful weekend! It has warmed up and I sure have enjoyed that this past week. Lots better than that below freezing weather, in my opinion that is! :)

SUNDAY

We still haven't been above freezing but tomorrow is supposed to be 33. Then Thursday, unless it changes between now and then, it's supposed to be 50. Heat wave!! That will sure feel good to me!

This is the water down below us. Unusual to see it with that much ice on it.

When it gets this cold there has to be some snuggling going on. This is Jamie Dawn (black cat) and Skittles sharing a bed. They have separate beds but they are smart to stick together when it's necessary! When they are in the same bed like this I'll put both 'Snuggle-Safe' warmers under them, but normally I just put one in each bed. I put their beds under chairs on the porch and then a covering of old quilts and throws goes over the whole thing and there is a thick rug on the floor, so they are pretty cozy in there. I had to lift the quilts to get this photo and they both shut their eyes. As you can tell, Skittles is a pretty big cat, much bigger than Jamie Dawn!

CLOSE THE FREEZER DOOR!!!

Okay, whoever has the freezer door open, would you please close it?? It's doggone cold. Us folks in this neck of the woods aren't used to it being this chilly at this particular time of the year. It's not supposed to get above freezing until next Monday.

What happened to global warming??

Yeah, I know that most people are feeling this cold weather and I have no need to complain. I'm not really complaining, I'm just telling about our cold weather! The good thing is that when it goes above freezing it'll feel like a heat wave to us.

When watching the weather channel they always seem to mention International Falls, MN as being the coldest spot. I wouldn't mind visiting there, but not during the winter!

This morning we had a covering of light snow and it flurried most of the morning, but the snow doesn't stick around. I have been spending some time laying on the sofa enjoying watching the snow flurries outside and trying to find something to watch on TV. With 76 channels you would think it'd be easy....but it just isn't so. Some people might find it easy to find things to watch, but that's not the case with me.

Maybe it's those alien spaceships making it colder?? Haha! This cloud sure reminded me of one.

Today I took my car to be checked to make sure that it had enough antifreeze in it. I don't recall when it was last checked. They told me it needed the radiator flushed out. They didn't do that there so I took it to Valvoline and had it done. He said I am good now to -34 degrees. If it were to get that cold here then we'd all be in trouble! Everything would be froze up around here.

I hope everyone is having a good year so far and keeping warm! I think Munchie has the right idea! She stays inside more than usual. She went out today and in about 10 minutes I looked out and she had a mouse caught and was playing with it on the driveway. Don't know where she caught it at, but she is a good mouser.
