Whoa!

Whoa! It's been 2 weeks since I posted. Great Jumping Jehosaphat, but I am late! Well, better late than not at all......right?

What have I been doing for 2 weeks? Nothing out of the ordinary I guess. I have had more allergy problems this year than in a long, long time, and those make me feel......oh...what is the word.....lethargic....maybe.? I went to the doctor and got a shot in the behind, got some medication, and then I went to the eye doctor thinking I had an eye infection, and got drops for my eye and an ointment to put in my eye at night. She said I didn't have an infection but I had blisters under my eyelids that were consistent with allergies. Geesh! The allergies were worse than I thought!

The yard mowing has started and I've mowed 3 times so far. Everything looks so pretty blooming and greening up.

I did go to a tea party. That was very enjoyable! There were several teas to choose from and some lovely teacups and saucers for drinking out of. Then there was quite an array of goodies to go with the tea. Yep, I definitely loved the tea party!

Aren't these pinecones pretty? I love pinecones and there are so many shapes, sizes, and varieties of them.

I love the color of these trees. I took this photo by one of the banks in town. I think these are flowering crabapple trees. The blooms are lovely but they won't last too long.

Here are my two Sunday Signs!
I hope everyone has a wonderful week.

Comedy by the Roadside

A friend of mine has a grown daughter that just never learned to drive and she is somewhat handicapped, so her Mom takes her wherever she needs to go. She goes occasionally to SE KY to see a doctor there. Her daughter also takes her little dog, a Poodle/Maltese mix, with them. On this particular trip they had car trouble before they got to the doctor's office. They got out of the car and her daughter was on her cell phone calling 911 to see about getting help. Her mother had sat down on a rock by the road and was holding the dog in her lap.
Well, this is in SE KY where there are plenty of coal trucks. A coal truck came over the hill and it backfired about the time it passed by them. If you have ever heard a backfire from a vehicle it sounds just like a shotgun blast. When this happened it scared them both, and her daughter screamed into the phone and her mother screamed too. The screaming and the backfiring scared the little dog and it peed in her lap. Meanwhile the 911 dispatcher on the other end of the phone heard the blast and the screaming and was shouting, "What's going on? Are you okay?? What's happening?"
Finally they got a wrecker to come out and tow them in. He towed them to the doctor's office first and looked at the car there. She said that the whole drive in with him they had to hear all about his problems.
Well, the car got fixed (or so they thought) and they left there and headed home. In London, KY the car died again. They called someone to come get them and he drives a small pickup. So my friend had to ride in the middle over a console thing for 30+ miles and it wasn't very comfortable at all. They had the car towed back here to a garage. My friend was not pleased with the trip and couldn't find any humor in it at all.
However, as she was telling it to me I thought it was totally funny, especially with the backfiring and the dog peeing on her lap and how the 911 person reacted too! It's not funny that they had car problems but the rest I thought was funny!!
I do hope everyone had a nice Easter Sunday and celebrated the resurrection of Jesus. I went to church and then at 2:00 in the afternoon I went to my neighbor's home where they had quite a feast going on, and I had been invited. Lots of good food and nice folks to chat with!
My Late Sunday Sign

I SAW STARS!!!!

Last Thursday night I sat down at the table and the chair legs came loose and I hit the floor like a ton of bricks. I knew this was going to happen sooner or later. All my wooden dining chairs have weak legs. I am not good at describing this, but you all know how chairs are and the wooden parts just are glued into the other parts. Well, all the parts are loose and have come out and I have glued them and even super glued them but nothing works. I use the table for everything but eating. Well...not everything, but any letters or cards I write, paying bills, balancing the checkbook, preparing my Sunday School lesson, etc. The table and chairs belonged to my MIL, so they have been around for many years and have had lots of use. All of the chairs are rickety in the legs and I have moved them around in order of least rickety. The latest one I've been using was getting really bad and one day the whole leg pulled out. Well, I'd just stick it all back together and so far so good...until Thursday night. After crashing to the floor, I fell over to the left and landed in the cat/dog water bowl and spilled it plus got my top all wet. I also banged my head hard on the cabinet door. I grabbed my head to see if it had a knot and to make sure blood wasn't squirting out. No knot that I could feel and no blood. Whew! However it sure did smart. I had to clean up the water mess and then change my top. I kept rubbing my poor old noggin. It was sore a little the next morning.
I got on the computer and sent an e-mail to my two SIL's and my cousin. I told them what happened and that I had seen stars. I also told them that if I died in the night they would know why, or if I totally went completely crazy they would also know why. One SIL e-mailed me back and said that my brother wanted to know if I had seen Elvis. I told her that was NOT the kind of stars I saw. I saw the little 5 corner kind like in the cartoons where your eyeballs are going round and round!

Monday Chit Chat

Here is a pretty succulent, hens and chicks. Of course this is just a hen with no chicks yet! Isn't it pretty with those different shades of colors! This is a really large one too. Then there are the daffodils that are blooming. I have some that are about ready to bloom but haven't bloomed yet. They are a different variety and larger than these. You can click on the pictures to make them larger.

I haven't been doing much in the way of excitement. I am long overdue I think. I'm talking about nice excitement -- not any excitement of a bad kind. Only good excitement! I was trying to think of what I could possibly blog about. I was going to show you a corn on my little toe, but decided you all probably didn't really want to see it.

Right now folks around here are excited about the University of KY Wildcats being in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen tournament! I sure hope they can go all the way. I don't watch the games because they are too nerve wracking for me. When they played Mississippi I had it on and right at the end there was only a few seconds left (8.2) and they were behind a couple of points. I thought there is no way they can win, so I turned it off. Later on I found out they had made a basket and tied it up, then they won in overtime!! I can watch the games but when it gets to the end and they are really close that's when it becomes nerve wracking! That's when I have to turn it off and then find out later if they won or not! My SIL calls that a "nail biting game!" But I'm rooting for them!!

A friend gave me this dear litte teapot night light. Isn't it adorable?! I just love it! It's perfect for Easter with those cute bunnies!

Here's my late church sign for this week. I'm sorry it's blurry and hard on the eyes.

Things that Start With C's

Today was rainy and we even had thunderstorms. Certainly a good sign of spring around here. Things are getting greener and budding out! Bring it on!!

While it was rainy and thunderstorming I thought I'd make some cookies.

Sugar Cookies

Peanut Butter Cookies

This is the latest cat added to our family. It came from the farm where I feed the cats every day. I tried to pet the kittens and over time I managed to pet them some while they were eating. Then something happened to the other yellow one, her sibling. It just wasn't there one day. I kept trying to pet this one and the more I petted it the more it liked it. I always talked in baby talk, like I do with animals, and I called it "Little One," because it will always be small for a cat. It's mother is very small too. One day I was down there and it was limping. I decided then to bring it home with me. It allowed me to hold it on my lap as I drove home with it. No problems whatsoever. She has been to the vet for shots, etc. She spends most of her time laying in front of the fridge where the warm air blows out from underneath it. Her name is "Little One." We now have 6 cats. Ain't she cute? She's very sweet too!! When she meows she wrinkles that little nose up and it's so adorable!! I guess you have to be a cat person to think that's a cute thing though.

A Day Late and a Dollar Short.........

I'm a day late but let's overlook that. Okay? Thanks.

I was just looking at the photos of the stars on the red carpet at the Oscar's. They have the list of the best and the worst dressed. I don't know who makes those decisions but I certainly don't agree with what they come up with. I guess we all have our own opinions and tastes though!

Spring has finally come to our neck of the woods and it's been so enjoyable! I got my Mandevilla plant out of the basement and I've been bringing it out during the day for some sunshine and warmth. It is already sprouting new growth even being in the basement! I'm so glad someone told me I could put it in the basement and keep it over the winter. They are such a beautiful plant.

I took this photo of Billy's feet while he was sleeping. Aren't they cute?

I've had a fairly busy week, for me anyway. My friend that had been in the hospital passed away and I went to her funeral. She would have been 85 this month. Her funeral was very beautiful and she would have been proud.
I also went bowling again. Can't say that I'm getting any better at it, but it's fun and that's what counts.
I also had to get a mammogram last Friday. This has always been a dreaded procedure since they mash things flat as a pancake and it's not pleasant to say the least. However, they have new machines that they call "digital" now, and even though the machine still looked like one of those vice gripping squeeze machines, it was pleasantly not painful at all. That was a nice surprise!
I hope that all my blogging friends are doing great and that springtime has come to your neck of the woods too!
