Sunday

This is a home similar to what we lived in when I was a small child. I don't know the folks in this old photo but it's from the same area we lived in back then. You can see the windows are raised and  the curtains blowing. It looks like maybe they are wearing overalls, which was also what most boys and men in the country wore during that time. I love seeing these old photos of days gone by. Life was a lot harder then for folks. No electricity, no inside bathrooms, etc.  We kept our milk and butter in a spring to keep it cold. Usually some cracks in the walls and the floor, so in the winter the snow came in on you while you were sleeping. I can't imagine what some people would do these days if they had to live like this, myself included!! I could do it, but I don't think I'd like it one bit! Remembering those days makes me thankful for all the modern conveniences we have nowadays.

This one is thanks to either Ralph or Sandy. I forget since they both have sent me church signs before.
Unfortunately stealing the copper from A/C units continues on today. I think it's terrible that people do that. Some will steal anything to get some money though.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and have an even better week!

Sunday Sign

Do you know what this is? It's a dough bowl. I got this one for my sister-in-law since she had been wanting one. These are made by a man in Albany, KY.  Can you tell what kind of wood it is made from just by looking?? I sure couldn't, but some of you smart folks that know your wood might.  Okay, I'll tell you at the end of this post!!

I found this photo below on the internet. I think I'd be passing on this wrap though!!

As for the wood for the dough bowl.  Did you know what kind it was?? It is Buckeye wood!

Visiting, among other things!

Yesterday I had a lovely day visiting my brother and sister in law at their cabin. These pictures were taken on the road you travel to get there. You can't really call it a cabin anymore since they have added on and it now has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, living room, kitchen, sunroom, partial basement, and a nice back deck. So nice sitting there with the peace and quiet that abounds up there. I didn't take any photos of the house though. It was great to get out there and just sit around and visit with them for the day.

This is one of the views that I think is so pretty.

I took the car through the car wash and there was this guy/gal sitting there on the machine where you pay. I thought that was truly an unlikely place to see one of those.

My neighbor has this new puppy, a Shih-Tzu. It's so cute!! Our Pup was a Shih-Tzu and I keep telling my neighbor that I'm going to steal this one from him! They are such sweet little dogs!

It's October!!

I can't believe that October is here already. It certainly feels like fall here with the temps getting cooler and the leaves beginning to change colors. I dread the leaf raking time. Ugh..not one of my favorite chores!!

Thanks for the nice comments about our home. It is quite cozy here!

One day recently I came out of Kroger grocery store and there was this huge mammoth of a dog that this woman was holding. It honestly doesn't look all that big in the picture here but it was big! If I saw this out in the woods I'd run like crazy!! This dog was super sweet and had beautiful soft long hair. I know he must suffer in the hot summers we have. The lady that owns him said he spent his time going from vent to vent in the house to get the cool air blowing on him. He is a Newfoundland breed. I think this is the first time I had ever seen one like this. Appropriately his name is "Bear."

Others were stopping and taking photos also.   The owners of the dog were parked beside me and that dog took up the whole back seat! He has a pretty face! Really a lovely dog.

If the abundance of acorns means we are supposed to have a bad winter...then look out! There sure are plenty of them this year...at least on our oak tree.
The dahlia still has some lovely blooms on it.
Scottie taking a nap in the recliner. Poor cat has a hard life, as you can see!

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!!!
