Heights

There is no way that I could be sitting in the spot that man is. I have too much fear of heights. I admire those that can handle heights; people that clean windows in those tall city buildings, people who build those tall buildings, those who climb and maintain towers, etc! I saw the documentary on the History Channel where they built the St. Louis Arch. That took some nerve, or being complete nuts!! It is 630 feet high. That isn't so high compared to the Sears Tower which is 1450 feet tall. I know that there are others taller than that.
I even hate it when they show heights on TV. It makes you feel like you are right there with them. You know, someone will be on top of the building getting ready to jump and they show the traffic down below and it's really FAR down below. Or it's a construction scene and they are up on the top. Oh, mercy me!! Just too high!!

Today has been a little rainy off and on. It's supposed to cool up and be in the 50's, but that's still okay by me.

Pastor's Business Card

A new pastor was visiting in the homes of his parishioners. At one house it seemed obvious that someone was at home, but no answer came
to his repeated knocks at the door. Therefore, he took out a business card and wrote "Revelation 3:20" on the back of it and stuck it in the door.

When the offering was processed the following Sunday, he found that his card had been returned. Added to it was this cryptic message, "Genesis 3:10."
Reaching for his Bible to check out the citation, he broke up in gales of laughter. Revelation 3:20 begins "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. Genesis 3:10 reads, "I heard your voice in the garden and I was afraid for "I was naked."

That man is not only not afraid of heights he is as brainless as a mosquito. No one in their right mind would do something like that. He obviously places no value on his life.
Pictures like this make me shudder! If I ever saw one of my kids do something like that I would slap the tar out of them.

Ok, go to http://www.b13design.com and check out my pics at the "Trip to the Arch" link.

I so want to visit the Grand Canyon again to see the new Glass bottom skywalk.

And there is a game on the xbox 360 called Crackdown. You basically gain strength and agility to the point where the city is your parkour playground. You jump from rooftop to rooftop and it is so realistic at times that my butt tightens up when you look down from the heights.

Was that too much info? Sorry.

Hey, Rachel,
Sorry I haven't been commenting, been reading, but not a lot of time here this week. I too am afraid of heights! I can't even do an "down" escalator!

When I was younger I would have sat on that rock, but not now. I'm not afraid of heights...I just keep a safe distance now from edges. If there was a safely rail on that rock, I would be right there to look down at the beautiful landscapes below.

I'm with you on the heights thing.
I had to review a New Year's Eve show that was in one of those hotels with a 20 story atrium. There were people hanging over the edges and balloons falling from the top and...ughh, I'm getting all sweaty thinking about it.
I was the one mashed up against the wall behind a potted plant while that was going on.

Heights make me nervous.
I couldn't handle those jobs.
I saw a show awhile back about the building of the arch. Maybe it was the same show.

FUNNY joke! I'm sure that pastor appreciated the fact that the person did NOT answer the door while unclothed.

Your answers to the JD Quiz have been cracking me up. You are so much fun!!
Hint: My mother works with nuts. :)
Hint #2: I love mustard and ketchup and relish.
I look forward to posting the answers tomorrow.

Enjoy your weekend, and stay off of tall ladders.
Also, if your pastor comes by, don't answer the door if you're naked. Put on a robe, at least.

I can do heights at long as I look out and not straight down. I also like a handrail. They're not my favorite thing though!!

Great post!
I really liked Pastor's Card.
I have had personal experience with the danger of heights. It would be too much to tell the stories in a comment.

I went up in the Arch back in the '80's and it scared me because it felt like it was "swaying". Maybe just my vivid imagination.

This summer I went on this drop ride called "Drop Zone" at King's Island. They hoist you up in the air, and you crash down to earth at 60mph. My seat number? 13...
