Chocolate Covered Peanuts

Today has been a day of doing just the routine things around here. I actually did more laundry than usual it seems. Laundry is not something that I have a lot of though. For that I am thankful. So after today's laundry I won't have to do any for a few more days, unless something unforeseen happens! That does happen occasionally, but it's not the norm.

I saw where Leonard Davis (nope, never heard of him until now) signed with the Dallas Cowboys; a 7 year contract that is worth nearly 50 million. Mercy me! If that isn't getting paid well, then I don't know what is! I can only imagine! Personally I think that those players are way overpaid, but that is just my opinion on the subject.

I wish I could sing. I mean really be able to sing. Like Celine Dion. That woman can sing!! It's a wonderful thing to hear a good singer sing. She isn't the only one. There are lots more who are really good. Wouldn't that be something? To stand up in front of folks and sing and have them actually enjoy listening to you!! Actually have them pay to hear you sing? I can sing but no one wants to hear me. They might actually pay me not to sing. I sound real good in the car alone while I sing with the radio or a tape. At least it sounds good as long as the radio/tape is on. Once I turn it off and sing alone then it's not a pretty sound anymore. My brother always told me that I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. I fear he was right.

We live on a two lane road, but it does not have the yellow stripe down the middle. I know, and assume that other drivers know, that you are to drive on the right and they are to do the same. I know that half the road is mine. I know half of it belongs to the drivers I meet. Unfortunately some people think their half of the road is right down the middle. It makes me want to call them a bad name when that happens and I have to take the ditch to miss them. Sometimes the bad name slips out before I can suck it back in. Sometimes I just say it under my breath or just think it. Nothing real bad you know, usually it's just "idiot," "stupid," "Learn to drive, idiot!" Things like that. I guess that isn't too bad compared to what some people would call them. I'm sure that other drivers have called me worse than that. The speed limit is 35 mph on our road. Speeders are one thing we have too many of, so I try to observe the 35 mph limit. Then when cars get behind me and ride my bumper because they think I'm going to slow, I figure some words probably come out of their mouths and they probably aren't slipping!

I thought this sign was cute!

If you wonder why this post is titled as it is, it's simply because I couldn't come up with a clever name, so chocolate covered peanuts it is!

Was that you doing 35? Sorry I blared my horn and cut you off like that. The sale on those chocolate covered peanuts was almost over and I had to get to the store in time. :P

Hi Rachel, I enjoyed your Chocolate Covered Peanuts post. Talking about singing. I LOVE Celine Dion. You know I could sing at one time. I have three sisters and we sung in church every Sunday and when we had company come to our house, my Mother always made us sing. But NOW>>>>> you know what they say, "If you don't use it, you lose it"....Well, I lost IT! I wish I had never stopped singing!

I can't carry a tune either but that doesn't stop me from trying either. *LOL*

I also think that sports players are paid way too much too...No wonder that none of us can afford a ticket to go see them play...that is none of us poor people.

Love your blog! And chocolate covered peanuts is just fine... reminded me of an old friend who, when reading out loud, would come to a word she didn't know would say "washbucket" and then just go right on with the rest of the paragraph! One day I could not stand it any longer so I asked her why "washbucket"? Her answer was - Why not, it's as good as anything else. So are chocolate covered peanuts!
ps - love your basket!

Love the title! I love chocolate covered peanuts. I also love peanut M&M's.
My laundry is calling but I am not listening...
I don't keep up with sports stuff. That does sound like a lot of money.
I am glad you sing. It doesn't matter if it is good or bad as long as you do it. Sing on!
There are many gravel roads around here that don't have yellow lines. The same thing happens. No yellow line means they drive down the middle. Many also drive to fast. It is aggravating.
Have a wonderful day!

You are a hoot with your title...I wish I could sing like Martina McBride...I saw her in concert once...oh and I also want to be "tiny" like her and have that big boomin' voice come out of me...she just touches something in your heart to hear her sing!!!
But alas The Good Lord saw fit to bless me with looks instead...lol!!
Have a great day...granny grunt...that's what I call drivers that go the speed limit...hehe!!

I've been munching on chocolate covered almonds yesterday and today that my mom sent me.
YUMMY! I thought maybe you were munching on some choco covered peanuts.

It makes me mad when people ride my bumper when I'm going at least the speed limit and usually a little over. It's not like I'm driving under the speed limit. They swerve around me and take off like a rocket, then end up just in front of me at the stop light ahead. Serves them right!!

Singing in the shower is best. It has great reverb.

I have laundry waiting for me too, but here I am! I love Celine Dion too. What a gift that lady has! It would be great to be able to sing like her but I confine my 'talent' to the car or around home when I'm alone.

Rachel, thank you so much for the kind comments on my laundry room.
I wish I could sing like that too, but my voice is hopeless!

I sooo agree with you that these "players" are incredibly over-paid! They should Pay TEACHERS this kind of money, PLEASE!

Our workd is really, really Topsy Turvey...

Always love your posts, Rachel....

And BTW: I can sing, dear Rachel but I certainly haven't made a "living" off it...! (LOL)

Hi Rachel -- Those peanuts are scare around your blog. It was our lucky day!
If you sing alone then it's a pretty sound if YOU like it.
Your peanuts are along the idea of my UFO picture today, there just wasn't one.

Yeah you covered it all in this post.
Football - That is way to much money!
Signing -Once, following a church service, I had a Pastor tell me I certainly did may a 'joyful noise when I sang'. I haven't sang in church since. I occassionally move my lips but make sure nothing comes out.
Share the road - you call those drivers much nicer names than I do.

Hey, that just rocks! I really like that sign.

I used to be a dj (now they're called A.P.'s-air personalities)back in the late '80's mid '90's. And why? Because I wanted a job where I could listen to the radio all day and sing! Within every dj is a frustrated musician because they play other's music, (most of us can't sing.).
