Did I Mention...........

These past 3 days have been so pretty and just like spring days instead of January days. I am not complaining. Monday it was a little bit windy but so nice and I got out and raked some more leaves that had fallen from the Bradford Pear trees. I used the riding lawnmower and tried to blow some into a circle to save raking. It did help and I'm all for that. I do not like raking leaves. I put all I can in a spread out sheet and then bundle them up and, in order for the wind to not blow them all back up the hill, I took them about halfway down the steps and dumped them. Then I had to close my eyes because the wind lifted them up and I got a face full. After the leaves were done I rode the mower over the rest of the yard to grind up any leftovers. I must say it looks much better. Then yesterday the wind blew even harder and I saw oodles of leaves flying across the yard from the neighbors house. Our fence catches most of those, so I'll need to rake some more at some point. Did I mention that I don't like raking leaves?

Last night we got the rain and winds that brought some tornado's to the midwest. Thankfully they had lost strength when they got here. I only heard a few rumbles of thunder. We did get 3/4's of an inch of rain. You could really hear the wind and rain when it started.

This morning when I went into the bedroom and asked my husband, "How do you feel?" He replied, "With my hands." Nothing like a wise cracker!!

"Hey, is that thing on??"

Good Afternoon Rachel,
I hate to rake leaves as well. I usually let the lawnmower take care of them. LOL. I have been offline for a couple of days and am trying to catch up with everyone this afternoon. I hope to be able to do a post in the morning tho. It didn't get Severe here where we live at, but it did near by tho. We just got some rain is all. I'm glad it wasn't bad your way as well. I love what your DH said. Sounds just like a man huh? LOL. Take care my friend and have a great evening. May God Bless You and Yours.

Love & Hugs,
Karen H.

I know what you mean about the wind and the leaves... same thing happened here. (except we have NO hills!) sigh. But it does look a bit better. Most of the leaves blew into the woods.
Aren't you glad for the rain? We have had a little off and on, but mostly it is dry again.
Today it made it to 72 again. I sat out in the Adirondack wearing a tank top and studying in the sun. It felt so good. But, my Drop in the Bucket is back on tonight. sigh.
Bless you and have a great week! j

I have one little red bud tree but somehow I still manage to have a yard full of leaves from neighbor's trees on all sides. Our landlord is responsible for yard work and if he does anything at all he just runs the mower over them, no raking.

Love the kitty pic! He's adorable! ;o)

Have a great rest of your week, Rachel.

Love and hugs,

Diane

Your husband has a good sense of humor. My leaves just blow away. But then I have only 2 little dwarf pear trees. I'm glad I don't have to rake leaves. Shoveling snow is all the work I need (my husband snow blows it but I shovel the deck off.)We had such a gorgeous week (almost 70 and broke a record high) but now it's back down to 36 degrees right now. Bummer.

I don't like to rake either, Rachel..... I've noticed more leaves and the sign of Fall colors more in the last two weeks. We've actually had some freezing weather down here lately. It did get back up in the seventies these last couple of days.

Your husband sounds like mine. He would probably say something like that too and then do a demonstration of where to put those hands.

My kids would love your "orange kittie"...She's cute.

Keep up the raking.

Hey Rachel, My mom, who had been bllind, said that all of the time to her doctors when they would ask her how she felt! Cute! Tell hubby that he is a funny guy! I used to love it when Mom said that, it would make the docs stop and smile or chuckle. DOn't forget that is a good thing, because they are always in such a darn hurry these days!
I hate leaf raking too, hubby usually gets the kids involved, and that turns into a mess sometimes too! But, I think despite out spring like weather, we aren't raking much right now! I guess we will have to wait for the real spring to pop around.

This unseasonable weather has got my poor chickens all confused. We have only had four eggs since December 20th. About the time they decide it is Spring the next freeze sets in.

My husband is also a comedian. When ask how he feels, he will say "with my fingers" or "finer than frogs hair."

It's wonderful to read that yoyr husband has not lost his sense of humor...., given his situation, my dear.

Thanks for your understanding comment, dear Rachel. It means a lot to me.

Your husband is a funny one - I'm glad.
I avoid raking with a passion.I mow the leaves right over. I figure they are mulch to protect the grass for the winter.
Take a rest my dear-

That picture of Gooseberry is so cute! and what a wise cracker you have there for a husband...Jimmy gives me the same answer when I ask him that. Must be an old joke that men like to use, hehehe.

I can't believe that you carried a bundle of leaves half-way down those steps...That's really far & steep. Why didn't you just toss them over the side of the stair railing on top or even just go about 10 steps down? Do any of your blogger friends know how many steps down you have? Half way is too many for me to go down and then climb back up. No wonder you are so fit.

Peter had a good question...why didn't you just use the lawnmower to mulch them? Jimmy does that sometimes and just leaves them there to feed the grass...they disappear into the grass most of the time.

I like Phil's sense of humor!!
We were on tornado watch for awhile as that storm came through. I was a little scared, but I just kept the weather channel on for a couple of hours until the danger passed.
One great thing about not having any landscaping in our yard yet is that we don't have to rake leaves. Our landscaping is made up of rocks and leaves. It's very easy to maintain.

Love the kitty? Does he have extra toes? Sure looks like it in that pictre! Hubby is funny, so nice to see a bit of humor in all his confusion!
We're shovelling snow up here in the NorthWest. Had snow almost every day since T-giving...I'm sick of snow, sicker of shovelling it. Happily spring will be here then we'll have leaves and lawnwork and the inevitable immigrant orchard worker to deal with, yay!!
