Saturday here in the park I think it was the 4th of July!

You are probably wondering about my title. Well, that just popped into my head and I went with it. Some of you may remember that song. It has absolutely nothing to do with my post.

My lands! It's been a week since I posted. Well, some weeks are like that. I haven't been able to make the rounds of the blogs that I like to visit and comment on lately. The weather has gotten a little cooler and I get in the baking mood when that happens. These apples bars pictured below I made for a church function. I have also been experimenting with yeast rolls. Everytime I do that my kitchen has a new main color...the color of flour. I get it everywhere, on me, the floor, the cabinets, the stove, and oh what a mess I create! I tried two different recipes and they both turned out pretty good but I liked the second batch the best. They were pretty near perfect, if I do say so myself. Very yummy!! Definitely the best I have ever made and a recipe I'll try again.

Hard to believe that this is the first day of December. Christmas is almost upon us. Time to get those decorations up, cards sent, presents bought and wrapped, and newsletters written and sent out! I got out a wreath and put it on the floor to see if the lights still worked on it. Munchie decided that it was a great place to lay inside that circle. Unfortunately the lights don't work, but that's okay. It's still pretty without the lights. I don't decorate inside the house for the holidays due to lack of space, but I will decorate my porch!

SUNDAY SIGN

The color of flour. Oh Rachel, you and I could cook so well together. I open anything and it gets everywhere. Char calls it messy, I think of it more as creativity unleashed.

You didn't share your yummy recipe!!
I might want to make some of those "perfect" apple bars too!!
Baking is a lot of fun, but eating what you bake is the most fun of all.
;-)
Happy Weekend, Rachel!!

That kitty in the wreath would make a cute Christmas card!

Your house must smell wonderful today, and by the way, I love that song and your blog title. I like this part: "People dancing, people laughing, a man selling ice cream singing Italian songs..."

I think it's by Chicago, but I could be wrong.

Hope all your wreath lights work and have fun baking and decorating!

I love the smell of a house when baking is going on. Darn! I wish we would have been lucky enough to have stopped by on your baking days. Yum Yum.

Your apple bars look really good & scrump-deli-ishus.

I remember that song by Chicago:

Saturday in the park
I think it was the fourth of July
Saturday in the park
I think it was the fourth of July

People dancing people laughing
a man selling ice cream
singing Italian songs

Potete scavarli, sì io potete [ italian] Can you dig it, yes I can
and I've been waiting such a long time
for Saturday

Another day in the park
I think it was the fourth of July
Another day in the park
I think it was the fourth of July

People talkin really smiling
a man playin guitar
and singing for us all

will you help him change the world
can you dig it, yes i can
and I've been waiting such a long time
for today

Slow motion riders fly the colors of the day
A prose man still can tell stories his own way
Listen children all is not lost, all is not lost, oh no, no,

Funny days in the park, Every day's the Fourth of July
Funny days in the park, Every day's the Fourth of July
People reaching, people touching, A real celebration
Waiting for us all, If we want it, really want it
Can you dig it (yes, I can),
And I've been waiting such a long time
For the day

Good Morning Rachel,
Oh my, those Apple Bars look devine. I bet they taste good too. You need to post the recipe so we can try them. LOL. I'm sure mine won't be as good as yours tho. I'm not much of a baker myself. The kitty in the wreath is just too cute. That's a great picture. It is 63 degrees right now. It's going down to 34 degrees tonight. I had to turn my air-conditioner on for a while last night. I love the sign. It says it all and more. Well, take care my friend and have a great Sunday. May God Bless You and Yours.

Hugs,
Karen H.

Those apple bars look delicious. I also like to bake when the weather gets cooler. Would you care to share that recipe with the rest of us. PLEASE - PLEASE - PLEASE.
Isn't it just like a cat to get into the middle of the action when your trying to do something. Adorable picture and adorable cat.

Those apple bars do look delicious, Rachel! Although I don't think there's anything better than a hot homemade yeast roll with real butter....mmmmmm!

Munchie looks right at home in that wreath!

Hope your weekend was blessed, and your new week is too. ;o)

Love and hugs,

Diane

Munchie is asking you to turn on the lights to get her warm. She is a smart cat who knows how to get attention.
We could play little red hen and help you eat those goodies.
I'm slow too, didn't do much blogging this weekend. [I do have a new blog, I can't decide about it.]
Adi is some better this morning, but I still carry here 'outside' and keep her on 'bed rest.'

Rachel, I get flour everywhere too. I made my gingerbread cookie dough on Monday and it is sitting in the frig, till I get the time to bake it. I need to do it soon because the cookies I make from it go all over the country to TF's family. Your kittie looks cute in that wreath, lights or no lights.

Keep up the baking.

Hi Rachel -- I'm sorry Pup isn't feeling well either. He is about Adi's age, she is eleven.
I first tried cheese, she just spit everything out. The Vienna sausage works so good, she doesn't chew or hardly taste.

Wow, making yeast rolls when it is cold outside is tough - good job.
I swear that I commented on this post earlier, but I guess not.
I hope that you are warm and cozy and tucked away in your kitchen.

Hi Rachel -- She is feeling better now. How good she feels I don't know as she is staying with son Mike and his wife, Sharon. I talked with Mike this morning and she seems better every day.

We are in Nebraska as we sold my dad and mom's farm this morning by auction. The sale went well.

After the sale we had lunch that Cliff Morrow cooked, over at their home. He feeds good! Cliff is expecting a big crowd over the 4th, we plan to come.

We have been here since Wednesday afternoon and will fly back to Texas early in the morning tomorrow.

Did you look at my snow pictures? They are on my PHOTO blog now but I think I will put them on my regular blog just now.

Stay warm, we will soon be in the warm country.

Thanks for your visit Rachel....In a way, I cannot wait for them to come and for me to see ALL this stuff...GONE! I am overwhelmed by the astronomical amount of paper that I have ONCE AGAIN accumulated....Good Lord! It is mighty depressing!
I will let you know if the depression lifts, once it is all out of here....The horrific thing is, there is STILL so much more that needs to be gone through and dumped! HELP! (lol)

Your apples bars look very yummy ! and the cat very decorative in the wreath. I put up some Christmas decoration since the first advent which is celebrated in Germany by lighting the first candle on the advent's wreath. The tree only follows in a week.

Those apple bars sound delish.
I bet your porch looks beautiful! How did you convince M from giving up that cozy spot inside the wreath?

Early Happy Holidays to you,
