"SORRY FOLKS"

This is a little squeaky toy that I got Pup for Christmas. I've never seen him act this way with any other toy. He has lots of toys and a few favorites, but this one is certainly special to him. He carries it around all the time and will hardly put it down. He likes to put it on the back of the sofa sometimes and he will leave it there. Then he'll go back and carefully get it down again. When he goes outside I have to take it out of his mouth. He must think that this is his "baby." He gets it very gently and rarely ever makes it squeak.

I also went back to the vet yesterday and got Pup refills on his antibiotics. He has started that horrible sneezing again and I sure don't want him getting sick like he was before. Of all the things that I have found to get him to take his pills, putting it in some BBQ pork does the trick. I tried him with Vienna sausage and deli turkey and those wouldn't work. I guess the BBQ has such a strong odor that he can't smell the medication at all?! Beats me, but I'm so glad it works!

We have had a couple of cold nights. I think last night it was in the single digits with the wind chill making it worse. My neighbor called me and asked me if I could cut her water off at the meter since her lines had frozen up overnight, even though she had left them dripping. At the time she called me the social worker that comes from the VA was here to see my husband. I told her I'd do it as soon as she left, which I did. The meter is right beside the road and you have to get on your knees and bend over in that hole that houses the meter and turn it off with a wrench. It's not the easiest thing to do with not much space in there to work. I always dread it when cars go by because there I am with my head and arms down in that hole and my big behind sticking up there for them to see. Now that surely must be a frightening sight. I should put a sign on it to apologize that says, "Sorry folks."

No, Rachel. Actually, there should be a big sign that says, "Here is a kind hearted lady doing a good deed for her needy neighbor."

Bless you for being so quick to help your friends, even when it's an effort for you to get the job done. God will bless you for it, my friend. ;o)

Love and hugs,

Diane

Animals are so funny how they can take to one thing and not others and leave us wondering why.

At this moment in time, it is 11 degrees here. Ugh. But temps in the 60's are right around the corner (like Monday).
I love what Pup does with his new toy. Very cute.

Yes, Rachel, you are a good neighbor. Mine calls the plumber for me when I'm gone. That helps.

I'm glad you got Pup to take his meds. You can 'stuff' them down his throat but watch out for the teeth.

Adi sure wouldn't be nice to a toy like Pup is. Adi is pretty rough with most of her toys, like the YouTube I made of her trying to kill the bear.
I put both her bear and the monkey in the closet, the doc says her violent shaking behavior with them could have triggered her problems last month. She seems to be nice with the rabbit.

Stay warm. We were down to 22 last night, I had the faucets dripping. It warmed some during the night.

Good Morning Rachel,
Well, I must say that Pup really loves his new toy. It is cute. Maybe the color of it really attracts to Pup. I think that is so sweet of Pup to carry it around like a baby. I'm glad you found something to put Pup's anitbiotics in where Pup would take them. You don't need a sign that say's that. You are a great neighbor for helping your friend out. It has been very cold here as well. It was 16 degrees yesterday morning when I got up. They say a warm up is on the way by the weekend and rain as well. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.

Love & Hugs,
Karen H.

It is very nice of you to go out and turn off your neighbors water in such extreme weather. Don't worry about your bottom dollar sticking out there for everyone to see, yours is probably smaller than theirs...lol.

I'm glad puppy is doing better. You never know what little toy they will like. Have a great weekend Rachel.

Lol now that made me giggle...what we do for our neighbours, eh? lol I do hope Pup is soon feeling better again, poor little thing. He sure seems to love that toy...makes you wonder why pets will become so attached to some toys and yet not others. I just found out my mom wants a cat so I'll have to bring her to the shelter to pick one out soon:-) Take care dear friend and here's to another wonderful year of friendship! xoxo

How wonderful it must be to have a neighbor like you! Rackin' up those stars in your crown, girl!
If your animal tries to destroy a toy, it is usually because it is "trying to kill it." Not good. But Pup has found a friend. So sweet!
We had a Manx cat once whose favorite toy was a peanut! She'd bat it around on the kitchen floor where it made noise on the linoleum. When the other cats came out to see what she was doing, she sat on it. Noise? WHAT NOISE? Nothing I see makes any noise! SHe would start up again as soon as they would leave. Gotta love those animals!
Hope you have a wonderful 2008!

Dogs and/or cats are so cute how they can attach themselves to certain objects. I hope he'll be alright with his sneezing. What a good neighbor that you'd shut off the water for her. I'm assuming she can't do it for herself for some reason. Your sign comment made me laugh and think of those wooden cutouts you see just the backsides of someone bending over in the garden (not saying that that is how you probably looked, :-)

I've had to turn the water off at the meter and it isn't a fun job. But I've never had to do it for my neighbor. But I would if I had to! You are a good neighbor. Happy New Year Rachel! Clara

I had a German Shephard when my daughter was a baby that adopted one of the baby's squeaky toys as her own baby. I guess when someone squeaked the toy she thought it was being hurt. She carried it off and would lat with it for hours and lick on it.

Get well soon pup!
I am glad pup likes the toy. Teddy got one for Christmas that he is the same way with. How funny.
I am a tad cunfuzzled about shutting the water off at the meter. Even if you do that there is still water in the lines unless you blow them out with air at least that is how it works here the really really cold. The lines would freeze even if you shut it off at the main. We would also have to fill all the drains with anti freeze or they too would freeze. Maybe it is not as cold where you are.
As far as that behind sticking out thing I wish I was there with you!
I would get you jamming. We could crank up Queen and shake it and sing Fat Bottom Girls while we crank that ole wrench..Woooohoo!

My brother and Sil took their long haired Chihuahuas to my sister's this weekend. My sister had chew toys for her niece and nephew dogs. She is always the good hostess. Her Lab was so nice to leave the little dogs to their toys until one abandoned his squeak toy. The Lab then adopted this toy as his own and immediately removed the squeaker. He likes the toys just not the squeak. Aren't dogs funny! Sure hope Pup is well and happy.

That cute little squeeky toy looks like a pup, so no wonder pup carries it gently around the house. He finally has a puppy friend of his own. hehehe

I still don't know how to get that water turned off at the meter. You'll have to show me how to do it, but I'm afraid that I'll scare your neighbors all away, hehehe, cause you know how big my behind is.

Wish you could have come down here to join Jimmy & I in a bowl of chili too. At around 8 p.m. Suzanne finally showed up for her two bowls, so it wasn't a total washout.

And by the way, I agree with everyone's comments...You are a VERY GOOD NEIGHBOR and I wished we lived closer together.

If you make that Sorry Folks sign for your bohunkus, would you make two and send one to me?
Thankee Kindly.
I'm glad Pup loves his new "baby." Maybe when it squeaks, he thinks it's crying, so that's why he's so gentle with it.
Who knows?
One thing I DO know is that BBQ pork trumps Vienna Sausages EVERY time!!!

Our doggie has a toy that she loves like that, too.
It was actually a toy that the girls had, but never played with, and Lucy found it one day and has carried it with her ever since.
Its a stuffed dog that makes all kind s of dog noises, growls, little barks, whines...its precious to her.
