LATE SUNDAY SIGN & MORE

I'm so sorry my Sunday sign is late. This is one I made myself. The churches around here have had revivals and homecomings and fall festivals, etc., and I haven't been able to get any new pictures. I hope everyone did have a very blessed Sunday.

This is a raccoon cake I made for my neighbor's birthday! I was so nervous trying to make this but I thought it turned out pretty well considering who was doing it!! The only part I did not do was the writing. I had worked too hard getting it all ready and I certainly DID NOT want to mess it up. The space was very small so I decided to go the way of caution and have her (my nephew's wife) do that for me, just this once!! My neighbor was thrilled with it! I must say that I was quite proud considering this was my third cake. I had made two in the classes I took, but this one was all on my own. Scary!!! I can see all the things I did wrong, but I learned quite a bit doing it!

My husband has been, and still is, confused. This is why I did not get my Sunday sign out on Sunday. He wants me to call people on the phone that are dead. There is no convincing him that they are not alive, especially when he says he just saw them and talked with them recently. I expect this will last through the day and hopefully tonight he'll tire himself out and go to sleep, since there was no sleeping last night. Meanwhile.....ARGHHHHH!!!!!!!! Ah, now I feel better!

Now I hope everyone's week is off to a great start!! I'm so enjoying my new kittens Sir Scarlet (since he's a male) and Jamie Dawn. They are just so cute! I love watching them play and they bring me much joy!

Hi Rachel,
You did a fantastic job with that cake! It looks so professional :)
So sorry to hear about your husband's confusion. I remember when Mom or Grandma would have times like that and it is just emotionally draining (as well as exhausting)
My thoughts are with you,
xo

Being a relatively new reader of your blog, I had to do a search to see what the deal was with your husband. I finally found your mention that he had a second stroke.

That must be so difficult for you.

How true the Sunday sign and yet there still is mud slinging. Will people not learn.

Sorry about your husband. I hope that you both get a good nights sleep tonight.

I am so happy you have the kittens. You must keep us posted with their antics and pictures. Lisa

The cake looks fantastic! I can't believe it's only your third cake! You'll be a pro by my birthday (December!). Too bad I don't live closer. ;)

I'm sorry to hear about your husband's confusion. I hope you both get some rest and feel better by morning.

Love your church sign! Better late than never, right? Enjoy those kitties. Sir Scarlet...lol! I love it!!

Love the cake, love the kittens... well, of course I do, since sometimes I think I live in a cathouse - they allow me to live here as long as I buy the groceries and open cans on schedule... LOL! I know the babies will give you a lot of pleasure.

The sign is great. The cake is beyond excellent. I love it that your husband believes friends are still living. Sir Scarlet and Jamie Dawn will, no doubt, create many an interesting tail for us in the entries to come. Life is good.

That is the cutest cake ever and I love the sign. I can usually make a cake look pretty good but I just cannot get the writing to look like anything so I don't usually do it. Hope your hubby gets better in the very near future.

I'm back from my trip and now catching up with everyone! Omigosh, you did a FANTASTIC job with that raccoon cake, it's adorable!! You might see your mistakes but we sure don't! It's no wonder your neighbour was so pleased with it:-)

Your kittens are just darling and I can well imagine how much you're enjoying them!

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's confusion...it can't be easy for you at all. Please know that my prayers are with both of you. xoxo

You did a great job with the cake! I made a panda bear cake for my daughter once, it looked ok but I never did it again! Sorry about your husbands confusion, it can really be difficult trying to do reality orientation with them and sometimes easier to go along with it!

Hi Rachel, I love the sign. I know of two presidential candidates that need to read it and abide! The cake looks fantastic. No mistakes there as far as I'm concerned! Sorry that your husband is confused. Mine decided this morning at 5:00 AM that he was going to make breakfast. (He can barely walk) I didn't even know he was out of bed. I heard this loud crash in the kitchen. He had dropped the drawer from the fridge. Needless to say...who got up and made breakfast!

Hi Rachel -- Can I be next in line for a one of your cakes? Please? I can bring the ingredients if you will tell me what they would be.
This racoon is very nicely done, I sure couldn't find anything wrong with your work here.

I am sorry to hear your husband is having problems for the both of you again. You are soooooo patient, loving, and noble!

And I loved your sign. This might be my last comment for a couple of weeks as we will be leaving for Guatemala this Saturday.
I guess I'll have to settle for a pinata again this year instead of one of your cakes. ;-)

Thank you for your visit to my GUM Dept Store and for your nice comment. I am so sorry I just came here, I am running very late and may never catch up.

That's a great Sunday sign Rachel, and I feel like it's talking straight to me during this political season. hehehe

Your Raccoon Cake is soooo cute and I'm sure that your friend loved it. Did your little raccoon visitor model for you? You know that you're getting really good at cake decorating.

I'm so glad to hear that the kittens are bringing you such joy. You needed a lift, and Sir Scarlet and Jamie Dawn were just the ticket to lift your spirits!!

I hope Phil has come out of his confused state by now and is back in the world of reality. Poor fellow must get so frustrated when he is in those confusing states, and you probably get to the point where you want to pull your hair out and scream bloody murder!!

Your raccoon cake is marvelous!! What talent!
I think you've found another one of your callings.
Number 1: You've been called to save abandoned animals.
Number 2: You've been called to make cakes for your friends and family and your blog buddy Jamie Dawn.

:-)

Happy Weekend, Rachel.
You are a blessing to all who know you!!!!!!

I think your sign was talking to me. God help me to not be a mud slinger!
I love your raccoon cake. You did a great job. I've done enough cakes that I know what I'm talking about.
When I was learning to decorate cakes, all my mistakes jumped out at me like neon signs, but guess what? NO ONE ELSE SEES THEM! This is true. For instance I see absolutely no mistakes in your cake. It is just precious.
