Busy Week

This has been a busy week for me. Tuesday I went to the Senior Fitness and Fun day which was here locally. This was the first year I had gone. It was lots of fun. They were expecting about 300 and I'd say that was about right. They had games to play such as shuffleboard, corn hole, and miniature golf. They had a hula hoop contest and a dancing contest. I cannot hula hoop with those light hoops, but get a weighted one and it's no problem getting it to stay up. We had 3 people that could do the hula hoop. The winner did it for 36 seconds. I did not get a picture of her. This girl tried it with 5 hoops at once! That didn't work too well but she could keep one going for a long time. She was one of the volunteers there. You can tell by the look on her face that she was having fun!

This woman won the dancing contest. She also did well on the hula hoop but she didn't win. I really had a good time watching everyone!

We also had lunch and then they had lots of door prizes. I won a huge basket of beautiful mums. I got a voucher for some free blood work, plus we got a lot of other freebies too.

Yesterday we had our Sunday School class luncheon. We had it at one of the member's home and it's always so much fun to go there. She has a nice screened in back porch right off her kitchen and it's such a pleasant place to eat. My dear friend Mrs. Ruby got to come and I was so thrilled about that! She is in her 90's! Below is Tooter who is standing and Mrs. Ruby sitting down.

Today we went to the VA Dental Clinic in Lexington. We went by ambulance. This was just a scheduled visit where they would see what my dear hubby needs done. He needs two teeth pulled and he will go back in October to have that done. I went along for the ride but I had to ride up front while one of the EMT's rode in the back with my husband. The young man that drove told me what changes he would try to make if he were president. After listening to his ideas about things I told him he would get my vote anytime!! His ideas were all to help the American people and how to better them.

Our visit there was short and we were back home by noon. I had to get up very early (reminded me of Blogstock and how early they rise at the Morrow home); therefore I am tired and plan to get to bed early tonight. Goodnight.

I used to love the hula hoop as a kid. I won contests but about 20 years ago I tried it again and it just wouldn't work. Now I know why. They must have been weighted when I was a kid and the ones I tried later were too light (I won't admit it is the extra tire around my waist now.) You sound like you have wonderful support and fun in friends and medical people.

I recently saw some girls doing the hulahoop thingie. They were very good at it and were renting out hoops for others to try. No one could do it like they could.

Hi Rachel, I could do the Hula Hoop at one time in my life. It's been years since I have tried it, but I have a feeling I have lost the move!
About the 100 things on my blog. It took me three days to jot them down on paper. Then it doesn't take long to type them up. I think I could write 100 more. Why don't you try it? Go as far as you can...it's fun.

I'm inspired to buy a hula hoop and practice...just for giggles! ;)

Btw, your week sounds busier than mine...and I don't stop, so I hope you get some much needed rest.

Happy Friday!

What a great time. I liked the hula hoop pictures too. I remember when my kids had them way back in the 70's. I was never able to do much with them myself. I suppose the fact that I was about eight months pregnant when I tried probably has something to do with it.
Keep on having fun!

Hi Rachel, This sound like so much fun. I used to love the hula hoop. Would have liked to try it again. I was in a contest one time and went 4 hrs. and 25 minutes. It was many years ago. The winner went 8 hrs! Don't know if I could even still do it but may get one and try it. I am sure it would be great exercise.

I've never been able to hula hoop! Wish I could. Loved the photo of the woman with so many of them!

It sounds like it was a really fun day! And riding in the ambulance sounds like it was quite the experience! :-)

I enjoyed reading about your busy week.
How fun that fitness event must have been. All that dancing and hula hooping and drinking and carousing.
Next time, please keep you clothes on, Rachel, then they won't need to call the cops to arrest you for public nudity.

:-)

Tooter is one of Taylor's nicknames!
I call him Tooter or Tooter Teet or Tater Tot or Little Toot. He doesn't seem to mind at all even if his friends hear me use these nicknames.

I've been busy lately too, as well. It seems like I've been running full speed since Blogstock.

I hope this week is going well so far for you and Phil.
