SUNDAY

We still haven't been above freezing but tomorrow is supposed to be 33. Then Thursday, unless it changes between now and then, it's supposed to be 50. Heat wave!! That will sure feel good to me!

This is the water down below us. Unusual to see it with that much ice on it.

When it gets this cold there has to be some snuggling going on. This is Jamie Dawn (black cat) and Skittles sharing a bed. They have separate beds but they are smart to stick together when it's necessary! When they are in the same bed like this I'll put both 'Snuggle-Safe' warmers under them, but normally I just put one in each bed. I put their beds under chairs on the porch and then a covering of old quilts and throws goes over the whole thing and there is a thick rug on the floor, so they are pretty cozy in there. I had to lift the quilts to get this photo and they both shut their eyes. As you can tell, Skittles is a pretty big cat, much bigger than Jamie Dawn!

Your kitties look so comfy. You are so good to them it shows you really love them. I wish everyone took such good care of their little friends.
Our temps have warmed up a lot. It was above 50 degrees today but I didn't feel like gardening so stayed in and pampered myself.

That Sunday sign says it all. Got into the 40's here today - took my coat off to go to the store. It did seem hot. Loved it. Absolutely loved it.

Our seven cats have been looking like one giant cat when they bundle up together in the cold.

Love the sign, lol! ;o)

I used to make a bed for my outside kitties from an old styrofoam ice chest. I'd duct tape the top on it and then cut a small hole just big enough for them to go in and out but not let too much cold air in. Then I'd tape 2 or 3 layers of garbage bags over it to make it wind and water resistant. Throw a couple of old quilts over it and it made a dandy kitty bed!

It got up to 26 today and seemed almost warm compared to the last week or so. Of course it got down to 2F the last two mornings. Brrr!!!

Stay warm and have a great new week, Rachel. :o)

Love and hugs,

Diane

Hi Rachel, your sign is neat!

So are those cats. They said "why in the world are you waking us up at this time of night? Can we eat if we get up

Our weather is getting better again. This is the first and I hope last few days that we have to drip faucets.

Are the 'Snuggle Safe' warmers electric?

Hi Rachel,

An unusually cold winter all over!

I have been letting my 2 outside cats sleep in the house or on the porch during these cold times, and they are happy to snuggle together-often all 3 of them! :)

I'll be glad to see this cold weather go!

...as for the crops and citrus, I'm sure there's been a lot of damage done! Just have to go with what we have now and, hopefully, bounce back! That's life.

Take care Rachel. Keep warm!

Junie

(PS- typos in the above deleted message-so I did it over)

You're good to your kitties too I see. They look all comfy and I'm sure they're cozy & warm with those Snuggle safe warmers. You wouldn't believe what our front porch looks like. I won't even take a picture of it, it looks so bad. It's all for the cats and their warmth during these frigid temps. Jimmy just laughed and said to tell you that he worked on it for two days making sure that not one single snowflake will land on the cats and that they are protected and shielded from the cold wind. Now if you come over you have to come in through our back door. We might as well enclose the front porch permanently for next near if this global warming continues. :)

Love your kitty picture! Makes me want to stay home and cuddle.

Believe it or not we found five frozen lizards in our driveway this morning. Sad. It was in the 30s again here in Miami, second day in a row.

"I DIDN'T SIGN UP FOR THIS...I WANNA WEAR SANDALS AGAIN...!!" (Those are lines Goldie Hawn used in Private Benjamin...and I've been saying them for days now to express how I feel!) Brrr is right!!

I am so looking forward to warmer weather. I heard you all had ice this morning. I think it is so funny that the cat is named Jamie Dawn. That is a great picture. I am sure the real Jamie Dawn is proud of her namesake.

The cats look so cozy! You are good to them. The cat I ran over and killed...always slept on a heating pad in the winter. I still miss that cat!

I wish I had someone to take care of me as well as you take care of those cats. If my 10 cats saw that warm luxury I would hear complaints about it. Some have moved into my room on cold nights as I do have some electric heat there. I looked around the other night and there were two on the bed with Heidi and I, two on the Salem Rocker, two in the laundry basket, one on the desk by the computer and one on the bureau where I forgot to put away some of my daities. Looks like a cat house to me.

By now, Jan 17, I am sure you are enjoying some warmer weather. It is around 0 C here and will be for a week or so. This is a heat wave for us. Normal average daytime temperature is -8 C.
