Christmas is Drawing Nigh
I am now officially changed to beta blogger. So far so good.
Here is my egg basket before dying and after I dyed it with the walnut hull stain. I think it's about the right color now. I dipped it 3 times to get it fairly dark.
I went to the grocery this morning and it was very busy. The mall was super busy with the turning lane backed up and the parking lot pretty full! I only went to the grocery. No mall for me today. I was thinking of making some goodies; cookies, candy, etc. I don't know why. I sure don't need them. Around this time of the year it seems like there is a need to make these things and perhaps find someone to share them with. Good to do that anytime but Christmas just brings out that tradition in us I think. Oh drats, I forgot to buy milk!! Hard to make any goodies without milk. I guess I'll run down to Save-a-lot and get some.
So are you ready for Christmas?

Hi Rachel,
I changed to beta today today. Couldn't believe how smoothly it went.
I have yet to do any baking! (not that I need goodies around here!)
:)
I'm as ready as I'm going to be for Christmas.
Really like your basket. You should fill it with the cookies you are making..
YEP!!
Can't wait.
Merry Christmas Rachel and Hubby!
You are getting good at the baskets now. When is your next class?
Keep us posted on Beta. By the way of their hype I thought it was the New Blogger we could get?

Oooh! I love the basket!
My aunt is an accomplished basket-weaver, and I've made a few with her.
I LOVE it.
Its such a relaxing and soothing hobby.
Hope your Christmas is pure loveliness.

Wow, Rachel, your basket turned out wonderful! I would love to learn basketmaking...but I need another hobby like I need an extra hole in my head. LOL But if I were to take up anything else it would be basketmaking and pottery. Love your blog! And heck no, I'm definitely not ready for that jolly ole fella! Still need to do baking and whip up a few ornies. :D Happy Holidays!

What a pretty basket. I've been ready for a long time and find myself feeling a bit like a kid in a candy store. Not having had to rush around in December has really made for a fun and relaxing time.
Merry Christmas!
nope, I wanted to make some candy today but I did not get around to it either...maybe tomorrow evening!!
:-D
Love the basket! it would be perfect for me, cause I have chickens!!!
If I don't get to stop back in the next few days, have a most blessed Christmas!!!
Your Basket is beautiful. I read that ladies once used walnut dye to color their hair. I always thought that would be fun to try but my hair was very dark most of my life anyway. Now it is mostly silver/gray and I'd look pretty odd with dark hair at my age.
Hope your candy making goes better than mine. I only tried divinity but it was more like sticky taffy and wouldn't set up. I even used a candy thermometer and washed all the utensils twice in hot soapy water. I also made it on a day when it was dry and freezing.
Oh well, maybe I'll try fudge. Diane's sure looks good!
We're are nearly ready and I usuall can't say that this early. I don't know what got into us. I love the basket. Nice work. Merry Christmas R.
