It's Been Awhile

What have I been up to? Really just the usual things. I did get a week of respite care when I put my husband in the nursing home for a week just so I could have a break. I did go to Richmond, KY two days in a row. It was so nice to get out and not have to rush home, or be home by a certain time. I went to my parent's graves, visited a cousin, drove by my Dad's old place, visited my two brothers, and got to see 2 neices and 1 great neice and 2 great nephews! Richmond is quite a growing town. They now have a huge mall with stores in it that I have never heard of. I did go to Hobby Lobby and I ate at the Olive Garden. It is amazing to me how much the town has changed since when I was growing up there. Of course we lived in the country, about 16 miles from town, but that was where we went to school, some shopping, etc.

Here's Baby Kitty and Scottie. Sure a big difference in their size, but they are buddies. Scottie weighs 14 pounds and he gets that little one down and holds it. Baby Kitty screams like he's really hurting her. I was concerned at first but I watched them and Scottie doesn't hurt her at all. It's all in play and they are best buddies. I love to watch them playing. Cats can be very entertaining, as all you cat lovers know!

I took this photo recently of some corn not far from here. It sure is pretty!

We are having a heat/humid wave right now. Yesterday and today have been way up in the 90's with the heat index above 100. Just being outside and you are sweating, doing nothing but walking around. I'm just saying. I'm not complaining. I hate to be one of those people who gripe in the winter that it's too cold and in the summer it's too hot! But we are all human and we tend to do that. In the spring and fall, though, sometimes the temps are just perfect. Some people like the cold and some like the heat. For me about 68 with low humidity is perfect.

One thing for certain, when it's this hot I am so eternally thankful that I live in a home that has A/C, and that my car also has it. I know that many people do not have that luxury. I hope that everyone is keeping cool if you are also having this heat.

Hey Rach! Glad to hear you had a bit of a break. Your right about complaining about the weather....I do not like to complain when it is too hot outside, cause in the winter I am longing for some of that heat! We have had a beautiful spring so far, and the summer promises to be warmer than average. Suits me fine, as last year we hardly used the pool!

Since I didn't have A/C until three years ago, I definitely am thankful for it. I love Olive Garden! I'm glad you gave yourself a break; you deserve it.

So happy to read that you have had some time off of 'the job', so to speak. You are a truly loving devoted wife, Rachel and it is very important to get a "break" now and again.
Reading about the growth of your town made me wonder how my hometown must look by now....

Those two cats are darling...! You are right Rachel, cats are so much fun...Sweetie makes me laugh and smile a lot! And also, he warms my heart, as I know yours warm your heart too!

Sorry about that "heat" and "humidity".....it's been very very strange here. COLD in the A.M. and then HOT and HUMID---not like Southern humidity, but for us--in what is pretty much a desert environment, there is a lot more humidity than there used to be.
We haven't hit our summer heat, yet---But we will, I know.

Hi Rachel, I am trying so hard not to complain about this heat but I will take your 68 degrees anytime. I, too, am thankful for A/C. Glad you got out and got some rest. I used to live in Richmond in the sixties. I worked at EKU for a while. I need to make a trip to Richmond. I have not been there in years. I bet it has changed a lot!

Glad to see you are back!
Glad you had a nice little break.
It is 93 here, heat index 104.
Put pictures of last winter's snow on my blog yesterday. It felt good to look at it.

I'm glad you were able to get out and about and one day I hope to go back to Rochester, NY and see how everything's changed since I was a kid. (I haven't been back in 20 years...but I considered myself a kid back then!)

The kitties are adorable and btw, what are you feeding Scottie?? Whatever it is, I need to feed it to my skinny hockey player! :)

I don't mind the heat as long as I have something cool to drink, a swimming pool, and a/c at night. I hate sleeping in humidity!

Hope you enjoy the rest of your summer, Rachel!!

Rachel, I'm sorry that we didn't get to see you during your respite but we'll try to get up there soon. We've been so busy with doctor's appointments and Jimmy is now just cancelling them and telling his doctors that he will see them this winter when it's too cold to ride. We think of you often and we haven't been back to your town riding lately. It's been too hot for me to ride too and I've only been out about three or four times this year. We both miss you.
