My Visit to the Surgeon

Greetings fellow bloggers!! I know you all are dying to hear this. If you are eating you might want to stop before going any farther.

I had the lump under my arm removed today. The doctor poked on it and said he felt like it was simply a lipoma (fatty tissue non-cancerous thing). He said if I wanted, for my peace of mind, to have it removed he could do so. I told him to get the knife out. I do not know why I didn't take a picture of it to show you all. I could just kick myself. I did find one by seaching online which is similar so I'll share that. Aren't you glad I did?? Mine he took out in 3 pieces and all together it was probably about the size of a cooked pinto bean. Mine was not this dark and it basically sort of looked like chicken fat. He said they are not caused by anything you do or anything you eat. They just happen. They will send it off for pathology but he's 100% certain that it's just a lipoma and nothing to worry about. After he got it out I looked it over and it didn't have any dark areas or any blood in it or anything. So I feel better. I wish I had took a picture. Geesh!! I just wasn't thinking at the time. The only part that hurt was the two numbing shots he gave me. Under the arm is not a great place for shots. Not that there is ANY great places for shots but you know what I mean! After that all I felt was him pulling and tugging. About 5 minutes was all it took. Just me and the doctor. The nurse left and didn't come back until he was finished and already gone. I was surprised since usually the doctor has to have the nurse hand him this and that, but not this doctor. I have 3 or 4 stitches which I go back to get out on Valentine's Day. After he left the room was when I inspected it, never thinking to get in my purse and grab the camera before the nurse came back in.
I appreciate everyone's concern, thoughts, and prayers about this. I couldn't help but worry since it was under my arm. Or maybe I'm just a worry wart. Anyway, I feel much better about it now.

Oh Rachel, what a relief for sure that it's now out and the doctor doesn't think it's cancerous! You had every right to be so worried because you just don't fool around with lumps like that...thank God you had it checked out so quickly! As for the picture...well...I was planning on going to eat something but I think I'll wait now....hehe just teasing! Actually it was interesting to see what it looked like! Heal well my friend! Hugs xoxo

Glad this turned out to be nothing to worry about..
The pictures don't bother me. I watch the Discovery Health Channel and they show real operations quite often..

What a relief!
I am so happy to hear the wonderful news.
I hope you feel better soon and don't experience too much pain where you had the surgery.
I suffer from afterisms too. In your situation I would not have had the presence of mind to snap the shot either.
Huge Hugs

Have a wonderful day!

hey, Rachel, that is exactly what my doc said about 4 years ago when I had this mysterious lump appear on my right side, just over my ribs. He sent me for an MRI and it showed fatty tissue, a LIPOMA. Glad that that is all it was! Whew! a load off of my mind, as I am sure yours too. thanks for keeping us posted!

I have a suspected lipoma on my hip. I wonder about it occasionally, but my Dr. isn't worried about it and it hasn't changed in a long time. Glad it wasn't anything worse.

Two of my sisters have worked for the same vet for over 20 years, a niece works there and my daughter worked there during high school. The vet is a friend of the family and I've been able to see lots of stuff the average person doesn't see. I'm fascinated with medical shows and medicine, so the pic of the lipoma didn't bother me at all.

Hope your labs come back fine on the lipoma. :-)

Hi Rachel! Thank you for visiting my blog and for the birthday wishes! I'm so glad your surgery was successful and quick. The picture doesn't bother me at all. I had my gallbladder removed several years ago and really wanted to see it and all the stones for some reason! I forgot to tell the doctor though. I guess I was expecting them to bring it to me in a jar to take a look..LOL
Hope your arm heals up quickly.

How did your pathology report come back? Since you didn't say anything, I'm assuming that it was okay.
