R.I.P. JB

Yesterday I had to have my cat, JB, put to sleep. She was 17 years old which, according to the chart in the vet's office, is 100 years old in human years. I had her ever since she was a kitten.
I buried her beside of Sammy, another very sweet cat I had that had to be put to sleep about 5 years ago after a long bout with fluid on his lungs.
They were always best buddies. Now they are buried beside each other.

I'm sad for you Rachel. I had to have my big dog Barnabas put to sleep and it still hurts. But when our pets get old and they are miserable with pain etc. it's the kindest thing we can do for them. I know it's a true act of love. Only a very self centered person would keep their suffering pet alive.
God bless you and give you peace.

Aw, shucks! Been there, done that. I'm still reeling over the time I was the one that had to put our dog to sleep.

I was 14.

Dearest Rachel, I wish I was there to hold you. It's never easy to lose a beloved pet, especially after having had them for so many years. JB was very lucky to have had you as his owner and vice versa:-) Hugs xoxo

This makes the second tragedy I've read about pets this morning. I pray that I never have to go through such a loss ... but...I have a Dog that I love way too much and unless I go before she does, I will follow the same pathway as yourself. I dread even the thought of it but it's part of life and there's no escaping it. May you be comforted by all the words I've read here this morning. So sorry for your loss.

Oh, now that's just too sad. I, too, lost a 17 y.o. cat that I'd had since kittenhood, so I know how hard it is.

I'm so sorry Rachel...I know you must be sad, but JB is now resting beside his buddy and is feeling no more pain. I know that you will miss your cat as we still miss our little PJ who died at 15 years.

I'm sending you GREAT BIG HUGS.
