Sunday's Sign

I got this in an e-mail and thought you might get a kick out of it. I had seen it before but not the very last part.

All these examples do NOT imply that gasoline is cheap;
it just illustrates how outrageous some prices are....
You will be really shocked by the last one!!!!
(At least, I was...)

Compared with Gasoline......

Think a gallon of gas is expensive?
This makes one think, and also puts things in perspective.

Diet Snapple 16 oz $1.29 ... $10.32 per gallon

Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz $1.19 ..........$9.52 per gallon

Gatorade 20 oz $1.59 .... $10.17 per gallon

Ocean Spray 16 oz $1.25 ......... $10.00 per gallon

Brake Fluid 12 oz $3.15 ......... $33.60 per gallon
Vick's Nyquil 6 oz $8.35 ... $178.13 per gallon

Pepto Bismol 4 oz $3.85 .. $123.20 per gallo n

Whiteout 7 oz $1.39 ....... . $25.42 per gallon

Scope 1.5 oz $0.99 .....$84.48 per gallon

And this is the REAL KICKER...

Evian water 9 oz $1.49..........$21.19 per gallon!
$21.19 for WATER
and the buyers don't even know the source .
(Evian spelled backwards is Naive.)
Ever wonder why computer printers are so cheap?
So they have you hooked for the ink.
Someone calculated the cost of the ink at................
you won't believe it...................
but it is true.........................
$5,200 a gal. (five thousand two hundred dollars)
So, the next time you're at the pump,
be glad your car doesn't run on
water, Scope, or Whiteout, Pepto Bismol, Nyquil
or God forbid, Printer Ink!!!!!

WOW!!! I am shocked, Rachel...Here in L.A. the last time I looked, a gallon of gas in 'The Valley', was $3.67! Seems like a bargain next to printer ink, doesn't it? (lol)

That Sunday Sign is great!

It hurts my feelings and my pocketbook every time I have to buy ink cartridges for my printer!

Have a blessed Sunday, Rachel. :-)

Love and hugs,

The real cost of things is always a shock. Try to determine the cost of flower seeds for your garden by the pound or ton.

Bottled water is a fraud. It is no better than tap water (some of it is). It comes in plastic bottles that leach a chemical that can cause cancer and adds to the garbage problem. I am gratefull every day I live where I use water directly pumped untreated from a river. It is wonderful tasting soft water. We need to do more to restore and protect our water sources.

Don't complain ! Here it's worse especially gas prices ! we pay for a liter 1.50 € which I guess is a little more than an oz.

Wow! Some of those comparisons are just amazing. Gas here is $3.25 per gallon, but that seems cheap compared to some other liquids doesn't it!!

Seeing these figures makes you realize how cheap gas really is! Wow! To think we're all complaining about the price of gas and yet we never blink to paying what we do for those other items!! xoxo

Hi Rachel. I found your link on Jamie Dawn's blog and decided to follow it home. I'm glad I did, as your site is a compelling read.

(Rachel was my grandmother's name, too. We named our daughter in honor of her.)

Every time they crank the price of gas higher, I thank my lucky stars that we never bought that second car, and that I ride my bike to work. At some point, our fossil fuel-based economy's going to have to evolve.

I look forward to reading more of your work, and hope you'll pop by my blog as well.

All the best,

Carmi

It's not a good day unless I introduce one major typo into my work. My URL is actually as follows:

Sorry for the confusion...have a happy rest-of-Sunday!

Too bad our cars won't run on pee. We've got plenty of that!

That sign tells the truth.

I drink water from the faucet. I have a funny story about that that I will tell some time. :)

If my car ran on ink, I would print my blog on the streets of NY.

I have caught up with your writing Rachel.
I have ascertained that I won't burn printer ink in my pickup. Your bil is a prince. I know he helped you the last time you had water trouble.
I don'e need anymore stories about guys running into restaruants with knives. That gave me the hebbiejebbies.
You need more water in the lake before the fish drown in air.

WOW, I was shocked at those prices.
Now I can feel okay about taking a trip and I won't be complaining about the cost of gas anymore.

That's why I only buy gas and ice cream by the gallon.

Good one. I silently think about the cost of printer ink every time I hear someone brag about the great price they got on a printer. I used to drink water from a faucet - until I chipped this front tooth.

Hi Rachel -- Being busy isn't a good excuse but that's what I've been.
Now I should read more and post less.
I like your sign, I don't like the prices you listed the time before.
Thanks for the test ride in the BMW (or did you not do it?).
Our water leaks are outside and pretty soon, or later, someone will call us about it.
