Ecological Day (A DAY LATE--OOPS!!!)

Water pollution is a serious problem. Contamination of a small stream which feeds into our lakes and rivers and then eventually going into the ocean can be very harmful to the organisms and plants which live in the water.
Here is a picture of chemical pollution. Can you imagine anything trying to live in this?

Some humans are so bad to toss trash and garbage where they should not. It's such a shame that some people are like that. They seem to have no concern for the Earth. This picture was taken on the Ohio River and the garbage is so thick it looks like you could walk on it.

I would certainly hope that people would try to preserve and keep clean areas such as the picturesque one below. This is the beautiful Cumberland River. Streams, lakes, rivers, and the ocean are all so much nicer for all of us without the pollution. Let's all help keep our Earth clean.

Amen to that!

I hate to see trash tossed alongside the road or into the waterways.
In CA, we lived on property between two canals.
People would drive old cars into the canals and leave them there.
I don't understand that kind of thing.

Hi Rachel, yes, I would hate to live in this kind of a mess too. Poor fish and marine life. We are not doing our job very well of taking care of them.

I liked your election sign. We cannot 'make that cake again' because Karen has the lamp shades on a couple of her lamps.

I am in the process of catching up with my blogging. I have 40 unanswered comments on the blogs. (I will probably skip the 16 on my WW and Skywatch posts.)
Then too there are some birthday comments scattered around on other people's blogs, I would hate to miss them. :-)

Hi Rachel! I agree. Why must people be slobs. If one wants to live like a slob fine. Trash up your own property, but have respect for other people, nature and wildlife.

This is a wonderful post. Lisa

Some people are slobs. We were taking a really nice walk out in the woods and saw a bunch of candy wrappers. Who raised these people? How hard is it to put it in your pocket until the trail ends and deposit it in the garbage can?

I have never understood why people have to litter. Perhaps they don't have garbage service at home, or they just expect everyone else to clean up after them.

Hi Rachel,
Thank you for your participation on Ecological Day! I agree with you, water pollution is a serious problem all around the World. Here in Brazil we have this problem too. It's so nice seeing a river,
streams, lakes, dam and the ocean with limpid and healthy water, isn't?
Thanks for your great post!
Many hugs to you!

It is shocking to see these pictures. There is no doubt that a lot of people just don't give a damn! Sad. Very Very Sad.

It really is a shame that people can't do a better job of taking care of the planet that God gave us to live on. We are the caretakers of this earth and all of us need to do a better job of keeping it clean...

I have a hard time with people who just throw their trash anywhere without consideration of others.

You hit a nerve Rachel. I wish you could find a church sign that addresses this....lol

Have a great day, get out and vote.

We do our part whenever we can. We pick up trash by the street, on the river and along the beach. The local paper trashed our company for poluting but they printed false information. The real polluters weren't even mentioned.

Ugh. Those pictures are so sad and depressing. I just don't understand how people can just toss trash outside. I sometimes see children doing it and the parents not even responding--Teaching the next generation the wrong thing to do.

Great post!

As water becomes more of a scarce commodity, it should be a higher priority to take care of our water supplies.

I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't take the time to place trash where it belongs...and keep the land beautiful. I don't get it.

Great post Rachel.
I can't walk by litter and not pick it up. If only I had the same attitude about the shoes and socks on my bedroom floor.

Rachel... thanks for stopping by my blog! Halloween night was so much fun.. you're right, the food was so good... but the best part was the smores!! You should get a friend or bunch of girlfriends and drive that hour and go to lunch and go Christmas shopping.. even just going an hour away helps you to de-stress.. and it's loads of fun!! Cecil

That is a shame that nature can get so ugly at the hands of man. The Cumberland river is beautiful! I used to live near it. We can all do our part to preserving the natural beauty of our world.

She did a wonderful job on her cake and congrats! I like decorating cakes too. Never took a class but taught myself. Now friends and family come to me to make them. Just don't have the time like I used to.

Yes, yes, yes! Pollution needs to be stopped. So much of it results from plain laziness.
Thank you for recognizing ecological day. We all need to DO something about our environment.

It's amazing how careless some people are. And in some cases city officials are to blame too. In my town several acres on Lake Whatcom (our water source)were sold to a developer who made a huge housing project which has dumped hundreds of gallons of raw sewage into the lake each year. Always accidental they say. I say someone needs to get tough and make it stop.
It's all about money changing hands. God help us!
