Remembering Blogstock'08

At this time last year I was anticipating going to Nebraska to Cliff's for Blogstock. That got me to looking back at some of the photos I took when I was there. It was certainly a whole heap of fun, and looking at all the photos sure does make me smile!

You can click on any of these photos to enlarge them.

Here's the water tower.

This was when we were working on the float at Marilyn's Mom's house. Jerry had just recently arrived with his poster and it looks like Marilyn's Mom is helping him with it, while Marilyn (Cliff's wife) looks on. (We all brought (or made it there) a poster, which we put on the float.)

Now here Cliff has stepped in to help out. That's Cliff's grand daughter with her back to us, and Marilyn on the far left. In the very back, barely seen, is Terry Anderson with the Midwest Producer. He and Cliff sang, "I'll go to My Grave Loving You," (Statler Brothers) at karaoke night! I heard that song the other day on the radio and I recalled them singing it. There wasn't many of us there but they sure got a big round of applause!!

Here Ralph is getting off the mower. I can't recall why he was getting off but he wasn't finished mowing. He probably was coming over to the vehicle we were in to give us some instuctions about something we should be doing besides taking pictures.

He did such a fine job mowing though. I mean really fine! I think Ralph could be a mowing instructor! (How's all that sound Ralph?!!)

Here Ralph is cooking up some yummy food! Those burgers look great (and they were). I'd like to have one right now.

This was parade day, and you have Nora, Courtney (Jamie Dawn's daughter), Jamie Dawn, and Jerry. I don't know why Jerry isn't wearing any beads. I guess they wouldn't share!

These pictures bring back so many good memories and the fun we had. I picked some cherries while I was there and Cliff informs me that when he sees the cherries growing on the trees he thinks of me. How honored does that make me feel?! I didn't get any pictures of the cherries being pitted. I sure do remember that neat thingamajig that pitted them! It was a bit messy but it did the trick and fairly fast!
Blogstock'08 was very fun and went by too fast. I got there a few days early and we were all busy getting things ready for July 4th when the parade would take place and all the other bloggers would be coming in. Then getting to meet everyone (I had met Jamie Dawn and Jerry before), and finding out that everyone was so nice!
Yeah, it was a good time and I'm so glad I got to make the trip. Thanks again to all involved!

Hi Rachel, didn't it surprise you that everyone was so nice. Even old ...

It was a lot of fun. Those cherry preserves you made was the greatest! Thank you. (For some reason, you and those cherries and the folk reminded me of Little Red Hen and her helpers!)

Rachel
It are times like that which just make you (or at least me) while they are happening and for years and years after. Your post and pictures brought back a whole flood of great, great memories. Thanks.

I guess, if I were asked, what one of my regrets in life would be, one of them would be not making it to Blogstock.... I am glad you have those wonderful memories of your trip. Have a happy week, Rachel.

Thanks for taking us back Rachel. You are welcome anytime. BTW we will do this again. Just not this year. Too many things for both of our families.
Well that plus a new boat I don't have time to put in the water.

Rachel ~ Ah yes... Lots and lots of fun memories (retrospectively) at the LZs' house too. Blogstock was a lot of fun with some very NICE folks. Good fun, good parade and good eats! Sherry and I have often mentioned how much work both Cliff and Ralph and their wives put in a LOT of work to pull that thing off. No wonder they didn't do it again this year. Can't say that anyone would blame them! ~ jb///

You got to fly for the first time, if I remember correctly. What a great time we all had at Cliff's place!
Tekamah is such a nice, little town. It's a little slice of heaven.
I remember those cherries too.
You did a lot of work prior to us getting there. I'm so glad you were able to attend Blogstock '08.
One of these days, I hope we have another Blogstock event. I promise to share my beads with Jerry next time.

:-)
