Solid Gold
Yesterday evening I was trying to find something to watch on TV but it seemed so many channels were recapping Michael Jackson's Memorial. I really hated that MJ died so young. I remember him more from when he was a kid singing with the Jackson Five. He was a very talented person but obviously had some problems in his life. It seems sometimes that people like that who are so talented often have problems in their personal lives. From what I saw of the memorial I think MJ would have been proud and honored by the outpouring of love and the memorial for him.
I was amazed to hear that he lived in a mansion in LA and was paying $100,000 a month for rent. The fact that he lived there doesn't amaze me but that rent price sure does! I can't imagine a house/mansion where the rent is that high. It must be grand indeed! Many people have bought homes cheaper than that!! I wonder if all the bills were included with that rent price? I certainly hope so! I guess when you are used to having the money that he does/did then that price isn't shocking like it is to me!
I did love to watch MJ dance. I'm always fascinated by people who can dance like robots and do all those other moves that dancers do. Michael could do the moves and it looked easy for him. Then watching the moonwalk where his legs just moved with such fluid movements.
Does anyone remember a TV show that was on back in the 80's called "Solid Gold?" I always watched that show and thought how wonderful it would be to be one of the Solid Gold dancers. When someone was singing there were the dancers in the background dancing. Sometimes it might just be a couple or it might be a whole group. I loved to watch them as they moved along with the music. I thought how wonderful it would be to be one of the Solid Gold Dancers!!

Rachel,
No doubt MJ was very talented...AND very troubled. Personally, I was never a fan of his but as you said- he sure could move.
I just, mostly, feel a sadness for him
and his life.
I heard that high rent was being paid by his backers for the upcoming concert tour that was planned...
They kept talking about how much he was in financial trouble but obviously he could afford a mansion and the money will forever keep coming in from sales of all his music. He was one of the most talented persons ever but he was also so troubled I think it is a wonder he lived as long as he did. I was a fan of his earlier years.
Well I can't dance very well so I could never have been a solid gold dancer. MJ was talented. Too bad he messed up his looks so bad.
Yep, I wish I could dance like MJ or one of those Solid Gold dancers.
MJ was very talented, and I loved his music and dancing abilities. He did have some serious problems which showed themselves by the bizarre plastic surgeries he had.
I watched that show, Solid Gold, and liked it too, Rachel. I think the media helped to make Michael Jackson's life into a circus. He was a very talented person but seemed like a little boy in a man's body to me. I think he loved his children and wanted to be a good father. Great post.
Rachel
Even I watched Solid Gold a few times and I can't dance.

The prices of homes for sale and for rent here in Los Angeles have always been "inflated" shall we say--especially in certain areas of the city, like Bel Air and Holmvy Hills and Beverly Hills....
I can remember back in 1962 my father looked at houses thinking he might buy one here...He was shocked at the prices..Absolutely stunned---and that was a long time ago! It's always been very crazy in those particular areas....!
Indeed, MJ was incredibly talented and touched many lives with that talent. And I DO believe, that is what will live on and not all this other stuff. And I agree with Judy...The Media really made it look like he was pretty bizarre....But, I too believe he loved his children and that he cared for so very many people in need...A generous spirit.
Of course, I wanted to dance like the Solid Gold dancers and the Fly Girls on In Living Color...and moonwalk/grab my crotch like MJ, and I did dance pretty well back in the 80s. MJ's music always got me moving.
He was troubled but he was talented. I will remember him for the wonderful entertainer he was.
Your question first, no and I don't think I have ever heard of Solid Gold before. I do watch Dancing with the Stars if my favorite star is dancing. Or a professional football player.
I don't know about you, but I could retire for life on six months of MJ's rent payment.
I put a little tribute to Michael on my other blog. After the ceremony I listened to the recordings over and over of all those good songs sung for him.
I wish our Texas Janice Joplin had his following. She probably had the numbers but not the class, her fans were hippies like me.
..
I didn't watch the tribute, but I also thought he was quite talented. Like you though, I enjoy his earlier music. He gave a lot during his life, may he rest in peace.
I remember Solid Gold, but I don't think I watched a lot of it. It's been too long ;)

Hello everyone!
I would like to burn a theme at this forum. There is such a nicey, called HYIP, or High Yield Investment Program. It reminds of ponzy-like structure, but in rare cases one may happen to meet a company that really pays up to 2% daily not on invested money, but from real profits.
For quite a long time, I make money with the help of these programs.
I don't have problems with money now, but there are heights that must be conquered . I get now up to 2G a day , and I started with funny 500 bucks.
Right now, I'm very close at catching at last a guaranteed variant to make a sharp rise . Turn to my blog to get additional info.
