Who Knew?

Ants have been bad this year, at least in our neck of the woods. I got some stuff at Lowe's called "Amdro" Ant Block.

I was quite surprised when I read the label and it says that it controls acrobat ants, Argentine ants, carpenter ants, cornfield ants, crazy ants, field ants, fire ants, ghost ants, harvester ants, odorous house ants, pavement ants, Pharoah ants, thief ants, and the Texas leafcutting ant. I never heard of all those different kinds of ants before. I wonder what sets those 'crazy ants' apart from the others?? And 'thief ants'?? Who knew there was so many kinds of ants? Certainly not I!

Hi Rachel, That is hilarious. I have heard of "crazy aunts" but not crazy ants! They are bad here, too. I will have to tell my sister. I have always heard that cornmeal will kill them. Never tried it though.

Ants find their way into our kitchen every Spring. My husband told me about that Amdro stuff; he heard about it on the radio. Lowe's carries it but they were out of it, so we got something else for outside. We have to be careful of what we use inside because of our cats.

I see the "city ants" and the "country ants" were left out. Sounds like discrimination. LOL

I must go read the label on our bug killers.

Yep, I grew up around a lot of crazy aunts myself. It may be why I turned out so, well... like I did.
If you can find a product called Tempo, you should try it. It must be mixed with water and is the product of choice by Professional exterminators. It works like a charm and the label indicates it to be very safe.
On speeding, I got stopped the other day. I was on my way to Lincoln to play golf with the boys and I got a warning along with about 10 other people. All at the same time with 10 different patrol cars. The 'bums rush' I'd say.
Slow down Rachel.
On your MJ post, I think a simple mention on one newscast that he had died would have been enough for me. I think the hoopla that was made over him says a great deal more about the type of folks who were wowed by him, than about him. Making some kind of hero out of this misfit confirms my belief that we are indeed 'circling the drain.'

Oh, BTW, I used to watch the Solid Gold Dancers myself. But I'd have to turn the channel when Marilyn caught me.

Amdro...sounds powerful! It even kills invisible "ghost ants!"

Imagine that!!

I need a product like that for mosquitos!

Hi Rachel! Very funny. Who knew.
I can tell you that odorous house ants do have an odor. My cat goes crazy with the smell. They are like catnip to her. Lisa

I didn't know there were all those kinds of ants either. I know there are stinging ants though!
Keith used some pink string around our yard to do some measuring. It was amazing when we saw that ants had figured out that by crawling along the string, they could get to where they wanted to go much faster without having to contend with the ground and dirt and rocks and weeds. The string has become a super highway for ants. They are very smart!!
Kill those little suckers!!!!

:-)
