SUNDAY

Today has been a beautiful day; in the 70's and sunny. Just perfect for front porch sitting.

My car is still in the body shop being repaired after I was hit in the rear. The estimate for the damage was almost $2800. Doesn't take much of a fender-bender to make it expensive these days. They expect it to be finished this Wednesday. In the meantime I'm still driving the Hyundai rental car. I like it pretty good. It's a little smaller than my Buick and it seems to be cheaper on gas.

I got a new cat today. There it was today at the farm where I feed all the cats daily. This one is pretty big but not full grown. Maybe 4-5 months I'm guessing. I'll try to post a picture real soon. It's just the sweetest perfectly tame cat, with a very loud purr. It's one of those tuxedo cats, with 4 white feet, white under the neck and white whiskers!! So pretty!! I think I will name her/him Billie Jo. That way it'll fit either a male or female (I'm not sure yet if it's a male or female). The other cats are not too thrilled with it being here, but they'll get used to it.

It was so tame until I brought it in and it saw the dog. The it turned into a spitting clawing ball of raised fur. I got 3 claw marks on my arm. She eventully figured the dog didn't pose a threat, but she still was leary. She will get over that too.

One night this week there was 7 raccoons outside looking for food. Those things are such pigs and they are all nice and plump. One comes up to the door and stands on his back feet as if saying,
"What ya got tonight for me??" I call that one "Roscoe P. Coldtrain." I think he'd walk in if I'd let him/her!! Seeing 7 at one time is quite a crowd. My neighbor said the most she has seen at one time was 9 and that was a couple of years ago.

I hope everyone has had a great weekend!!

We once had very friendly raccoons who'd hang out on our pool deck and eat the cat's food, but once they caught sight of the dogs, they backed off completely. They were the cutest things but much too close for comfort.

Btw, Billie Jo sounds elegant. I love the white paws. We have a black and white neighborhood kitty with the same look and we call him/her "White Boots." :)

Sorry about the delete. I had a nice long comment that disappeared when I hit enter.
Any way. Sorry about the car.
I went and visited via the net the falls you went to. Neat place.
Watch those coons. They can be vicious.

Sounds like a pretty cat you have there. My daughters have a cat at their barn. It leaves for several days and comes back. I am sure it is visiting all the neighbors! I like the name of the coon. Another great sign.

Be sure and heed Cliff's warning. Our Illinois siblings feed raccoons nightly. Their neighbors hate them for making the raccoons beggars and causing them to approach humans. There are tons of stories of raccoons attacking people. Here is one: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20214858/

Just type racoon attacks into google and be shocked what you find. Can you tell it worries me for you?

I had a friend that managed to office in a body shop. It is a racket. Appraisers and body shop people are in cahoots. If you have insurance you pay more. If you pay out of your pocket you pay less.

It only takes a small bump to cost at least $1,000.

It sound like you need a trapper working in your neighbourhood. I hope they don't find a way into you house.

Oh dear, I do hope that you have your car back by now. I remember when I was hit from behind...the corner of the fender was pushed in and the light was broken...it was ridiculous what it cost to repair!!

Bless your heart for taking in that cat. Would you believe I'm still feeding that mama cat after 2 years? She comes faithfully every morning and evening for her meal...along with one of her kittens from last year and 2 from this Spring. Yup, 4 of them come here now. I've been trying to get Pet Save to take them in but they keep telling me they're filled up and will let me know when there are some openings. I refuse to bring them to the SPCA because they put down wild cats. They're not wild for me anymore, I can pet them (although they won't let me pick them up) but if anyone else comes around they run like the devil is after them! lol

We've had raccoons here too this summer and I've had to bring in the cat dishes once the cats are done because if there was still any food left in them, the raccoons were there! They sure are cute though:-) xoxo

Sorry to hear about the car Rachel. Watch out fr those racoons - I messed with one of them once on a fire. The racoon would have won except I was able to run faster.
Good Sunday Sign.

Hi Rachel. I am glad you got the new cat. That will add some excitment in your life. :-)

They should fix your Buick up pretty good for that. The auto insurance has missed a bet by not getting a discount like the health insurers do.

Your church sign is great!

We had Rockie and her sisters (one at a time) in our other home's attic until we got a new roof. They knew how claw the old shingles off.
You could borrow my trap if you'd like to get rid of them. :-)

Lucky little cat to have found a good home!
Be careful of the raccoons, tho... They can be very dangerous and distructive. Around here they carry rabies.
My SIL had a cat door - the local coons discovered it and came in the house. They demolished her kitchen, smashed things in the living room left torn up food packages and coon poop all over the place. What a mess! Don't let them in your house whatever you do!

How's the new cat? We have four!

Hope you're having a great week, and enjoy the weekend.
