Happy Veteran's Day!!

What do you think of this cute squirrel bench?? I saw this being made up at a local store and I asked the lady what it was going to be. These are made from concrete and are poured into a mold. They had a squirrel sitting there partially painted. The lady there told me that it was going to be a bench. They already had a turtle bench there that they have sold several of, with the back end of the turtle on one end of the bench and the head on the other. They are not near as cute as the squirrels, in my opinion anyway. I asked her the price and she said they are $70 painted. I told her that I wanted that one. They delivered it for me free too! I was thrilled, because I think it's so cute! The squirrels come up almost to my knees, so that gives you an idea of how tall they are. I had it put on our front porch. This one in the picture is one I took in the store that they are using for display now. She said it was supposed to be mine but the squirrel fell while they were working on it and broke an ear off. So he repaired it and they are using it for the display and they made another one for me. Mine is just like this without the white towels that they have under the bench part on this one. The bench part has rebar steel in it so you can sit on it, but I think it's more decorative and won't be sit on that much. Concrete isn't the softest thing anyway! I have a pot of mums sitting on mine on the porch. I have some photos but haven't downloaded them yet. You can click on it to make it larger.

Here you can see one of the squirrels closer up. See that huge acorn in his paws!!! This is the one that got his ear broken off.  The white is a towel that they had between him and the bench. Maybe to just keep it from getting scratched maybe? He did tell me that it was okay to put them out in the weather but if you had to use the weed-whacker around them then you would scratch them up and he didn't recommend it. These would be so cute on a paved patio though!

It has gotten colder here and last night was below freezing. I think it froze my Mandevilla vine that has been climbing on the porch. I hate to see it go, but I knew this time would be coming any day now.  I know some areas have had snow already. No snow for us yet but it's time for the temps to start dropping down colder as winter draws closer daily.

I have already moved one mountain of leaves over the hill. I hate raking leaves and we have lots more to fall. Yesterday was quite windy and  blowing just perfect so that if the oak trees would have let go of their leaves they would have all blown over the hill. But no, they were mostly still clinging on tight so they can wait and fall in our yard, so I'll have to get rid of them later!

Happy Veteran's Day today. May we all remember our veteran's near and far, and not just on Veteran's Day either, but every day. Our flag was flying proudly today!

I do hope everyone has a great weekend!

Oh Rachel, it's gorgeous! What a unique bench and I think the squirrels are just too cute:-) You got it for a really great price, I thought they would be worth so much more.

No snow here yet either but we have had a few heavy frosts in the mornings. All of my flowers/plants have now been pruned/trimmed, the patio furniture put away, etc. so now I'm ready for Winter. I just hope it comes later than sooner! lol xoxo

I really like that bench Rachel. As far as leaves go, I haven't even attempted to rack them up yet. Half of them are still on the trees and the wind just blows the ones on the ground around. That and the fact, I really don't think they are going anywhere. They'll be there later.

Hi Rachel ~~ I like your squirrel find. It is nice to see how things are made, isn't it?

You can keep your weather. We also have had one day at 30 degrees. It caused a frost delay for golfing. I'm still not ready with my knee for golfing.
