TWO THINGS

First of all there is this.

Pay It Forward Challenge.

Here's a chance to get a surprise from me, on a surprise date, in the next 365 days. (I'm responding to this via Perfectly Imperfect's Blog)

Here are the rules:

1.~Leave a comment on my blog that says you want to play. First three folks to comment will get a gift from ME. (If I don't know it already, let me know how I can contact you, an e-mail is fine, and I do now have an e-mail added to my profile!)

2.~Do the same thing on your blog! The first three folks who leave a comment and commit to doing this on their blog, too, will get a surprise from YOU at a surprise time in the next 365 days!

This should prove to be fun.....and interesting. This is a great way to make new friends too.....let's see what happens.

The second thing is this. I have a friend from England who is coming to visit me!! This is her picture below. She is not really a blogger but we have been e-mailing for a couple of years now. She got a chance to make this visit and I said "Come on over!!" This will be her first trip to the US. She is married with 2 children. We are both excited about this visit. Her name is Cathy and she will be here this Sunday and will stay the week. You can see that she is a brave woman since in the photo she is letting a tarantula crawl on her arm! We will not be doing any of that while she is here! I hope not anyway!!

More Food and Sunday Sign

Jimminy Cricket!! It's been a whole week since I posted. This week has had kind of gloomy days and on the coolish side. Days that make me want to hibernate. One day I did make these cupcakes in ice cream cones. I guess that makes them ice cream cone cakes instead of cup cakes? My first try and even though it said to put 2 1/2 tablespoons of batter in each cone, I put in more, so they ran over a bit. That was okay, since it makes it look like the ice cream is melting somewhat. They were actually quite tasty. I made these for a church function and the biggest downside is trying to transport them. They don't sit up well at all. Even baking them you had to be so careful that they didn't turn over. Needless to say, I did lose a few in that battle!

Reach out and touch somebody's hand........ or paw.....

Red Velvet Cake Balls and Sunday Sign

I must start off by apologizing for not getting around to everyone's blogs and commenting much lately. I could say I have a great excuse but I guess I really don't. Sometimes it's easier than other times, but I'm sure you all know what I mean!

As my brother in law was saying today, he is sad about all the funerals he's been to lately. He has had a couple of friends pass away recently, then his 1st cousin died (I had blogged about going to his viewing last Saturday), and then my neighbor that had Parkinson's was buried on Wednesday. My neighbor was such a nice fellow and I know he's not suffering now, but they were not able to completely straighten his body out, so his head was kind of laid back and to one side in the casket. But it was no surprise that he passed away. The Parkinson's has taken him slowly down for many years. Hospice was called in a few weeks ago.

Now to a brighter note! Today I made some red velvet cake balls. Aren't they pretty?? They are yummy and very easy to make. Just bake a red velvet cake and let it cool completely. Then crumble it up and mix it with a tub of cream cheese icing. I did this by hand and it is messy but the best way to mix it I think. Then you roll it into small balls and it makes quite a few, depending on how large you roll them. Marble size is good or a little bit bigger. This will easily make 50-60 balls. Put them on a cookie sheet and then put them in the freezer for awhile. Then melt chocolate bark and dip the balls in it and set them on cookie sheets lined with wax paper and let the bark harden again. There you have it! I did some with white chocolate and some with the milk chocolate. Both are good!

Oh, I just found a cookie crumb in my shirt pocket! Nah, I didn't eat it, just in case you wondered!!

Here's a joke for you!

During a visit to the Mental Asylum, a visitor asked the Director, 'How do you determine whether or not a patient should be institutionalized?"
''Well,' said the Director, 'we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub."
''Oh, I understand, 'said the visitor. 'A normal person would use a bucket because it's bigger than the spoon or the teacup."
''No.' said the Director, 'A normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a bed near the window?'

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day! Here's a rose for you!!
I read that Radcliff, KY celebrates 'Wives Day' in March. About four years ago the mayor of that fair town designated that there be a Wives Day. Sounds like a good idea to me!! After all, us wives need all the appreciation we can get. Isn't that right ladies.....and gentlemen??
I do hope everyone is having a truly wonderful Valentine's Day!

Sunday Church Sign

I haven't been on the computer much in the past day or two. I hope to make the rounds of everyone's blogs soon. My husband's cousin passed away and they had the funeral today with the only viewing prior to the funeral. Viewing started at 11 a.m. and the funeral was at 2 p.m. I went out but didn't stay for the funeral. They had his funeral at the church he belonged to; a little church way out in the country. You don't see many funerals at churches anymore like you use to. He was buried up on the hill in the cemetery beside the church. A really pretty spot I thought. Today was really nice but it was windy. Beautiful blue sky and I noticed a few puffy white clouds as I was driving.

Here is Pup with his favorite toy. He carries it everywhere and holds it in his mouth so much. I think that he thinks it is his baby! If a cat gets close to it he runs and snatches it up he is so afraid that they will touch it!

This is Munchie and I thought she was so cute in this picture. She was on the bed asleep and I loved how she has her paws held like this!

Stormy Weather

What a night of deadly storms across the southern states. I was up until the wee hours watching the weather. We had that red line of storms heading our way. At 12:30 a.m. the tornado warning sirens went off. That storm was one that had moved up from TN and it went along the northern part of our county and we didn't get any of it since we live in the southern part of the county. I was out on the porch and the lightening was almost constant in that direction. Then the line of storms kind of broke up west of us and we didn't get anything until early this morning and then we had just a normal small t-storm! I was so thankful for that! I have heard that KY had 7 deaths, with 48 deaths over all the states from these storms. That is so sad.

Now the wind is picking up and it's going to get a little cooler. Yesterday was like spring with the temperature breaking the record and going over 70! This is February y'all. It's supposed to be cold!

Sunday Church Sign

It's been such a lovely day here with highs in the upper 50's and sunny! It felt like a spring day. I saw folks front porch sittin! I certainly can't blame them. I have all my chairs put up or I'd have sat out on our front porch some today. Tomorrow is also going to be near 60.

Last night I could not go to sleep. I flipped and flopped onto my right side, onto my left side, I was too hot, too cold, I watched TV and tried sleeping again, I read a book and tried sleeping again....same story. I hate all that tossing and turning. I get all tangled up in my nightgown and that drives me nuts and then I have to straighten it all out, and then do it over and over again. No, my nightgown only comes almost to my knees. I could never handle a long one. Finally I went to sleep around 4 a.m. but it was a not a restful sleep. I'm hoping to do better tonight and I am feeling very tired right now, so I will say, "Goodnight."

This is one of my favorite church signs thus far.
