My Day

I am tired. Not much sleep last night. Today has sure been gorgeous and perfect weather. My neighbors had a 50th wedding anniversary party that I went to. Then I went to a surprise 75th birthday party for a dear friend. She was really surprised when she walked in and there was that big crowd shouting, "SURPRISE!!" Then we all sang Happy Birthday to her.

At both places there was lots of food and lots of fattening foods. That anniversary cake with a cup of coffee was mighty good. I think it settled nicely on each side of my hips.

I also got a new battery for the riding mower. Two years is about the limit for them, at least in my experience. I put the new battery in and now it still isn't working. Just makes that hummmm noise. Well, I'm too tired to worry with it today. I'll wait until Monday and try again and see what I'm doing wrong. No, the cables aren't corroded or anything and they are good and tight. But if I can't figure it out then I can ask my neighbor for help and if they are not home then I'll wait until my BIL comes down. Meanwhile I can use the pushmower and that would probably help to take some of the cake off that has settled onto my hips!

Yep, I knew there was a silver lining there somewhere!!

Have a Nice Day!

This is BEAUTIFUL.....
I think we all need this..

Good Morning!

To: YOU
Date: TODAY
From: GOD
Subject: YOURSELF
Reference: LIFE

This is God. Today I will be handling All of your problems for you. I do Not need your help. So, have a nice day. I love you.

P.S. And, remember...If life happens to deliver a situation to you that you cannot handle, do Not attempt to resolve it yourself !! Kindly put it in the SFGTD (something for God to do) box. I will get to it in MY TIME. All situations will be resolved, but in My time, not yours.

Once the matter is placed into the box, do not hold onto it by worrying about it. Instead, focus on all the wonderful things that are present in your life now.

If you find yourself stuck in traffic, don't despair. There are people in this world for whom driving is an unheard of privilege.

Should you have a bad day at work; Think of the man who has been out of work for years.

Should you despair over a relationship gone bad; Think of the person who has never known what it's like to love and be loved in return.

Should you grieve the passing of another weekend; Think of the woman in dire straits, working twelve hours a day, seven days a week to feed her children.

Should your car break down, leaving you miles away from assistance; Think of the paraplegic who would love the opportunity to take that walk.

Should you notice a new gray hair in the mirror; Think of the cancer patient in chemo who wishes she had hair to examine.

Should you find yourself at a loss and pondering what is life all about, asking what is my purpose? Be thankful. There are those who didn't live long enough to get the opportunity.

Should you find yourself the victim of other people's bitterness, ignorance, smallness or insecurities; Remember, things could be worse. You could be one of them!

Now, you have a nice day, God.

I was sent this in an e-mail and though it was worth sharing!

Doofus I Am

I did another stupid thing. Gosh, I'm getting good at this and it's quite embarrassing. On many days I fly the flag from the front porch. Back a few months ago the old flag was getting kind of worn and had a tear in it. I took it down and tied a new flag onto the pole. I don't fly it daily but usually when I think about it or know it's a military holiday, etc. But I do enjoy flying the flag. I also try to honor it by not leaving it out at night or not flying it in rainy weather. I know that if the flag is displayed all the time it is supposed to have a light shining on it. I know when they get torn and tattered that you need to dispose of them properly. For me I take them to the American Legion Office and they have a formal ceremony and dispose of them properly.

Yesterday was a beautiful warm sunny day. I grabbed the flag and put it in the flag holder. Later I heard a knock at the door. This young man, probably in his 30's I'd say, was standing there smiling at me. He said, "This might sound like a silly question, but is everything okay?" I told him that everything was fine. He said that the reason he stopped was because he noticed that my flag was upside down and in the military that is a sign of distress. I said, "Really? I did not know that, and I never noticed my flag was upside down." I thanked him for telling me and I brought it in and changed it immediately. I thought it was so nice of him to stop and tell me and to check on us (just in case it was distress!). He works for our local cable company and the company I have my internet through (I know this since he was driving one of their vans).

I sure did feel like a real doofus. I think I would notice if someone had their flag flying upside down, but here at my own house I didn't. In fact, I feel almost certain I would notice that at someone elses house!

Excuse me while I check to see if there is a "Kick Me" sign on my back.

Sunday Picture and Signs

Isn't this a pretty tree lined road?? Right now all these Bradford Pear trees are in full bloom around here. Far in the distance on top of the hill you can see one of the radio towers.

Busy as a Bee!!

Yesterday was super busy for me. Rare I have those days. Remember Miss White Lilly? That's her in the picture. Anyway, she just came here and took up, so naturally I feed her and love her. Since she's female I didn't want any more baby kittens running around so I had her spayed. I had called around to try and find the cheapest place to get her spayed at. Around here they insist that the pets must have all their shots, etc., before they will do it. Well, she is an outside cat and since she came here as a stray I just wanted to have her spayed and not all the other stuff. I called around and found a place in an adjoining county (22 miles from us) that does it much cheaper. The only thing they require, which is a state law, is a rabies shot. My neighbor had a tomcat she wanted to take too, so she was going to take them yesterday morning and then I would go and pick them up yesterday afternoon. I got her spayed, a rabie shot, and ears cleaned out for $83. I saved about $100 dollars by having it done there instead of here. I was charged $10 extra because she was pregnant. My neighbor had her tomcat neutered, ears cleaned out, rabies shot, and she got a bottle of ear mite medication and her charge was in the $50's. Her cat had ear mites whereas Miss White Lilly did not, but they checked and cleaned her ears anyway, because I wasn't sure. My neighbor has an appointment to take 2 more over in early April. She liked those cheap prices!
Miss White Lilly is doing fine. She spent the night in our bathroom and used the litter box fine. Today she wanted to go out and I let her and she is doing just fine and eating well. Tonight I probably will bring her back inside. She has 5 little stitches in her belly.

Last night my husband's brother's MIL passed away. She has been really sick and we have been expecting this. I went out today and bought 2 pies, ice cream, cool whip, boxes of cookies (for the kids), and then I got one of those big chicken dinners from KFC with mashed potatoes, biscuits, gravy, potato salad, cole slaw, and macaroni and cheese, and took that over. Another neighbor had brought a cold plate with sandwich stuff and bread. I figured the church people wouldn't start bringing stuff until tomorrow and I didn't want her to have to worry about cooking anything tonight. Poor lady has taken care of her mother at home for about 5 months now and is worn out already. Now the funeral will not be until Monday. That's because she will be buried in a military cemetery and they won't do it on the weekend.
The lake is getting even lower below us. They have finally moved everything from below us. Yesterday evening I watched them while they moved some of the docks and about 3 of them were touching ground. They had to really work to get them unstuck and moving and it took awhile. They use a small motorboat to push them along with and they had it wide open and still the dock wasn't budging. So they would pull it backwards and try some more. Finally, one by one, they got them moved. I don't know what they are going to do about electricity and water to those houseboats. I guess they have generators for electric but they are used to this easy life of having it all supplied for them.

Courting Flowers

Does anyone know what this flower is? I bought this in some cut flowers and I think it's just so pretty. It's pretty good size, probably a couple of inches or more across. Very lovely color!

This pretty bouquet I put on my husband's bedside tablet. They sure do pretty up the room but I don't think he really appreciates them that much!!

I have been watching Court TV. I get madder than a hornet when I watch it too. I start watching something and then I get pulled into it and I have to see what happens next. Tonight I watched "Disorders in the Courts." I tell you people are nuts out there! It's pretty frightening when you watch that stuff. One guy was in court for killing a policeman and he got unruly and they tried to get him down on the floor and they ended up tazing him. Whoa! That made his eyes and his mouth pop wide open. I sure wouldn't want one of them used on me. I guess those things have different effects on people. I watched a police video where a guy refused to cooperate and the cop tazed him a bunch of times before he decided to comply. I would not want to be a policeman/woman. Their job is not easy. They put their life on the line every time they go to work. They never know who they are pulling over in a traffic stop or what might await them when they go to make an arrest.

I think I'll try to stay away from that channel. It's just too scary!

Sunday Two-Fer!

Yesterday I went to see that movie "Wild Hogs." It was very funny!! I did enjoy it. First time I had been to the movies in a while.

I know it's not Friday but since I don't do church signs on Friday I put the TGIF one on here.

Hope everyone has a very blessed Sunday!!

Heights

There is no way that I could be sitting in the spot that man is. I have too much fear of heights. I admire those that can handle heights; people that clean windows in those tall city buildings, people who build those tall buildings, those who climb and maintain towers, etc! I saw the documentary on the History Channel where they built the St. Louis Arch. That took some nerve, or being complete nuts!! It is 630 feet high. That isn't so high compared to the Sears Tower which is 1450 feet tall. I know that there are others taller than that.
I even hate it when they show heights on TV. It makes you feel like you are right there with them. You know, someone will be on top of the building getting ready to jump and they show the traffic down below and it's really FAR down below. Or it's a construction scene and they are up on the top. Oh, mercy me!! Just too high!!

Today has been a little rainy off and on. It's supposed to cool up and be in the 50's, but that's still okay by me.

Pastor's Business Card

A new pastor was visiting in the homes of his parishioners. At one house it seemed obvious that someone was at home, but no answer came
to his repeated knocks at the door. Therefore, he took out a business card and wrote "Revelation 3:20" on the back of it and stuck it in the door.

When the offering was processed the following Sunday, he found that his card had been returned. Added to it was this cryptic message, "Genesis 3:10."
Reaching for his Bible to check out the citation, he broke up in gales of laughter. Revelation 3:20 begins "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. Genesis 3:10 reads, "I heard your voice in the garden and I was afraid for "I was naked."

Blogger

I haven't been able to get on here much over the last couple of days. Tonight I've been trying to comment and it's been slow and then it would post about 3 comments when it did. Geesh!Blogger is really trying my nerves!

Today was so warm! It got up to 80 and really felt nice. It's supposed to rain though and cool up some but not too badly.

OMG, I just see that it is 1:00 AM already. I only thought it was about 11 PM or so. This time change has me thrown off some. I guess I'll get to bed now. Hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday!! Maybe this joke will make you laugh!
*******************************************

An Irish woman of advanced age visited her physician to ask his help in reviving her husband's libido."What about trying Viagra?" asks the doctor ."Not a chance," she said . "He won't even take an aspirin."
"Not a problem," replied the doctor. "Give him an "Irish Viagra. It's when you drop the Viagra tablet into his coffee. He won't even taste it. Give it a try and call me in a week to let me know how things went."

It wasn't a week later that she called the doctor, who directly inquired as to progress. The poor dear exclaimed, "Oh, faith, bejaysus and begorrah! T'washorrid! Just terrible, doctor!"

"Really? What happened?" asked the doctor.
"Well, I did as you advised and slipped it in his coffee and the effect was almost immediate . He jumped straight up, with a twinkle in his eye, and with his pants a-bulging fiercely! With one swoop of his arm, he sent the cups and tablecloth flying, ripped me clothes to tatters and took me then and there, took me passionately on the tabletop! It was a nightmare, I tell you, an absolute nightmare!"
"Why so terrible?" asked the doctor, "Do you mean the sex your husband provided wasn't good?"
"Twas the best sex I've had in 25 years! But sure as I'm sittin' here, I'll never be able to show me face in Starbucks again!"

Sycamore Balls

Today was a gorgeous day, in the high 60's and sunny. I went for a walk and took the dog. We are both out of shape and not used to walking. Well, he's not really out of shape (like me), but he's not used to walking that far. We walked over at the campground by the lake. In this first picture you see all those little dots below the tree limb? Well, those are ducks. There was a whole bunch of them out there having a big duck party! In the distance you can see a boat ramp that no longer reaches the water since the lake is down.

When I was a kid I could skip along with boundless energy. I decided to see if I could still skip. Mind you there was no one over there but me walking, so I was all alone. I wouldn't dare attempt such a feat in public. I managed to do 12 skips and thought sure I'd croak. Maybe I was just stiff starting out like that, because on the way back out of there on a slight downhill slope I managed to do 30 and they were easier to do. I felt like my big bohunkus (as Jamie Dawn calls it) was bouncing up about a foot with each skip and dropping down about 2 each time I landed. I'm sure from behind it was quite a sight to behold!!

I came upon this big sycamore tree and it was covered with all these balls on it. Being brought up on the farm I probably should know what they are called. Since I don't know then I just called them sycamore balls. Sounded good to me. In this picture you can see some of the balls.

Goodies and Blimps!!

Here is a picture of the Easter dish towel that I won in the drawing from Tammy. Isn't it pretty!! Too pretty to use! Thank you Tammy!! I really appreciate it.

The other day I was out driving and I noticed this one cloud in the otherwise clear blue sky. It kind of reminds me of a blimp!

Chocolate Covered Peanuts

Today has been a day of doing just the routine things around here. I actually did more laundry than usual it seems. Laundry is not something that I have a lot of though. For that I am thankful. So after today's laundry I won't have to do any for a few more days, unless something unforeseen happens! That does happen occasionally, but it's not the norm.

I saw where Leonard Davis (nope, never heard of him until now) signed with the Dallas Cowboys; a 7 year contract that is worth nearly 50 million. Mercy me! If that isn't getting paid well, then I don't know what is! I can only imagine! Personally I think that those players are way overpaid, but that is just my opinion on the subject.

I wish I could sing. I mean really be able to sing. Like Celine Dion. That woman can sing!! It's a wonderful thing to hear a good singer sing. She isn't the only one. There are lots more who are really good. Wouldn't that be something? To stand up in front of folks and sing and have them actually enjoy listening to you!! Actually have them pay to hear you sing? I can sing but no one wants to hear me. They might actually pay me not to sing. I sound real good in the car alone while I sing with the radio or a tape. At least it sounds good as long as the radio/tape is on. Once I turn it off and sing alone then it's not a pretty sound anymore. My brother always told me that I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. I fear he was right.

We live on a two lane road, but it does not have the yellow stripe down the middle. I know, and assume that other drivers know, that you are to drive on the right and they are to do the same. I know that half the road is mine. I know half of it belongs to the drivers I meet. Unfortunately some people think their half of the road is right down the middle. It makes me want to call them a bad name when that happens and I have to take the ditch to miss them. Sometimes the bad name slips out before I can suck it back in. Sometimes I just say it under my breath or just think it. Nothing real bad you know, usually it's just "idiot," "stupid," "Learn to drive, idiot!" Things like that. I guess that isn't too bad compared to what some people would call them. I'm sure that other drivers have called me worse than that. The speed limit is 35 mph on our road. Speeders are one thing we have too many of, so I try to observe the 35 mph limit. Then when cars get behind me and ride my bumper because they think I'm going to slow, I figure some words probably come out of their mouths and they probably aren't slipping!

I thought this sign was cute!

If you wonder why this post is titled as it is, it's simply because I couldn't come up with a clever name, so chocolate covered peanuts it is!

Different Stuff

I love these little blooms on this flower. I think this is called a shamrock plant. Not sure, but it has the leaves like a shamrock. These blooms are very small and delicate.

In the next picture you see is the old train tunnel that usually is under water. When the lake is up all the way you can not see this at all. This is at Burnside, KY. When the lake was built the city of Burnside had to be moved to higher ground. Now that the lake has dropped down the old road can be seen plus some of the old foundations. Kind of interesting and especially to the folks who lived here all their lives and can remember it like it used to be before the lake. That was way before my time!! Just so you know!!

The next picture I took on a recent drive. Hail and Paradise were the two areas I was in. I drove through Hail but Paradise was my destination and that's where I ended up. I hadn't been out there in a long time and it had really changed quite a bit. I had to take a picture when I saw this sign!
Folks, it's Friday, so have a great weekend!
